Trent Miller
Painter

Graduated Spring 1999
Major: Art Education
I graduated from Anderson University in 1999 with a degree in art education. During my time at AU, I experimented in many different artistic disciplines, from photography, to painting, to installation work. Once out of school, I decided to dedicate myself to painting.

These last few years have been very busy for me, with four big shows of my work — including a solo show at Edenfred in Madison, WI, to the three-person alumni show at Anderson University in 2010. It was a tremendous amount of work, but worth it. Over the past ten years I’ve also taught part-time at several colleges and universities, including Marist College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The close interaction with art+design faculty was the most important part of my experience at Anderson University. My professors always made themselves available and have continued to be helpful to me even after my graduation. Their support and guidance prepared me for my life as a practicing artist outside of the university setting.

This year is shaping up to be very busy again, for which I am thankful. It’s always nice to have deadlines. My upcoming solo exhibitions include: I and They at the Backspace Gallery in Peoria, Illinois and an exhibition at the James Watrous Gallery in Madison, Wisconsin.
