Visiting Assistant Professor
Rochester Institute of Technology
Originally from western Michigan, David Schnuckel earned his BA in Fine Arts Glass at Anderson University in 2003. In 2010 he earned an MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology's School for American Crafts. His work has been shown in many noteworthy exhibitions nationally and abroad, his first solo-exhibition taking place in Brooklyn, New York during the summer of 2010 at the Robert Lehman Gallery.
David has been the recipient of many awards and opportunities within his field, including a Fellowship at the Creative Glass Center of America during the summer of 2009. His work belongs in the collection of the Glasmuseet Ebeltoft in Denmark and in collections of a variety of private owners, including former President Bill Clinton. David served as an adjunct instructor within the Glass Department of Alfred University from 2006 to 2008 and is currently a visiting assistant professor in the Glass Department of the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Of his experience at AU, Schnuckel says, "No matter what media one might commit to, I believe the purpose of the undergraduate experience within a Fine Arts Studio major is two-fold: (1) to develop a broad and competent understanding of the processes involved in working with one's medium and (2) to establish a personal voice with one's medium by using the acquired skill set to 'speak' within a body of work based on ideas and invention. Through research, dialogue, demonstration, and critique, my experience as an art major prepared me as an independent artist by allowing me to begin building the very foundation with which my current studio practice stands upon."
