Athletic Training Student Health Policy
The following health requirements are mandatory for all athletic training students prior to their enrollment into the professional phase of the curriculum, and in particular, prior to any clinical education experiences at off-site facilities. Failure to complete these health requirements will be cause for removal from clinical assignments and may impede your progress in the completion of your degree.The following is required of all athletic training students and must be on file with the athletic training education program director:
- Physical Examination: A physical examination is required of all athletic training students. If you have submitted the Anderson University College Entrance Physical, you have met the requirement. If the College Entrance Physical is not on file with the university, the student will be required to obtain a physical examination prior to involvement in clinical assignments.
- Immunizations: All immunizations must be up to date, including tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), rubeola, and varicella.
- Hepatitis B: Athletic training students are required to be vaccinated with the Hepatitis B vaccine (HBV): a sum of three injections in a six month period. A waiver must be signed if a student chooses not to procure the vaccination.
- TB Test: All athletic training students are required to submit to an annual tuberculin skin test (TB test). Written results of the TB test needs to be submitted to the athletic training education program director prior to the start of off-campus clinical affiliations. The TB test may be obtained at Student Health Services.
