Broadcast Journalism
Broadcast Journalism focuses on radio and television news, including writing, reporting and announcing.
Marks of distinction
Broadcast Journalism majors log unparalleled experience as undergraduate students. Rather than having to wait until their senior year to get hands-on training, students may find themselves in the station as early as their freshman year on live radio or creating real television programs. By graduation, all students will have logged a significant number of on-air hours—an experience most don't get until entering the professional world.
Practical experiences include:
- Newscasting with the university's commercial FM radio station, WQME, a member of the Associated Press and a CNN radio affiliate
- Reporting and anchoring experiences in radio and television classes
- Internship opportunities at radio and TV stations and networks.
