Avik Bhattacharya

Ph.D. candidate, Duke University

Bachelor of Arts, Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics major

As an international student, coming to Anderson University was quite a revelation. There were many facets to my Anderson experience – the surprising friendliness of the faculty, the sense of fellowship with all my classmates, and perhaps best of all, the degree of interest which others took in my personal life. With three majors and a very tricky course load to handle most semesters, I would never have made it through college in four years had it not been for the faculty members who went out of their way to help me plan my academic load. From taking me to computer science conferences to organizing physics research trips, from creating excellent internship opportunities to helping me contact researchers in my areas of interest in corporations such as Eli Lilly, the initiative and attention of AU faculty were extremely helpful. Finally, when it was time for me to plan my future in graduate school, the inspiring recommendations of the faculty and the overall infrastructure of the university were key factors in my gaining acceptance to a graduate school of my choice.
