TeacherBachelor of Arts, secondary education major
I would recommend the education department at Anderson University because I found the programs, the courses offered and the faculty to be top-notch in so many ways. The courses were challenging, and the faculty was caring, approachable and professional. If you have a desire to be challenged educationally, culturally and spiritually by a community of warmhearted faculty, staff and students, this where those needs can be met. If you want to be in a place to share your thoughts and ideas as well as explore your possibilities, this is the place. And if your desire is to be at a place that has grown and is continually growing for the betterment of preparing students for their future, visit the Anderson University campus.
For the Record
Accredited since the 1930s by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the School of Education is the largest program at Anderson University. The school offers opportunities for teaching abroad as well as student teaching in an urban setting.

• Urban student teaching experiences are available in conjunction with the Urban Life Center in Chicago.
• International student teaching experiences are available through a cooperative program with the Christian College Teacher Education Coordinating Council.
• AU strives to introduce majors to a diverse student mix of racial and socio-economic backgrounds and ability levels.
• AU offers a Master of Education degree, and many of the faculty teach both graduate and undergraduate classes.
• Our Teach for Indiana Program (TIP) provides alternative licensing for candidates with a baccalaureate degree who would like to teach elementary (K-5) or secondary (6-12) students. This is a full time, 10-month program.

Each summer, a group of education students travels to Bolivia to work in schools. The field-based program places education majors in classrooms throughout the program, starting with the first course. Our students are offered an opportunity to do their student teaching in the summer at year-round schools in the Indianapolis area. AU is the only university offering such an experience.
