About the French program
French is available as a major, teaching major, complementary major, or minor. The French program at Anderson University is a dynamic community of students and professors immersed in the French language and culture. Adhering to the highest academic standards, experience Christian faculty use a variety of innovative and effective techniques to help students succeed. Class sizes are small. Professors are accessible. And all classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The program emphasizes active use of the French language, knowledge of the French-speaking world, and a cultural understanding and acceptance that are becoming of followers of Jesus Christ.
There are many departmental activities to enjoy (including pizza parties, senior receptions, chapels, study-abroad orientations, debriefings, and presentations) as well as job opportunities within the department or in the language lab. AU is a member of the National Collegiate Foreign Language Honor Society, Alpha Mu Gamma, so many students are initiated after obtaining A’s in two courses at the intermediate level.
