Jennifer Nicole Kuba

Statistical Analyst, Actuarial Department of Central Reserve Life Insurance Company, a division of Ceres Group, Inc.

Bachelor of Arts, mathematics major

During my years at Anderson University, I enjoyed the diversity of personalities and teaching styles within the Mathematics Department. One professor would get more excited about confidence intervals than a kid in a candy store. Another loved to discuss, while mountain climbing, the definition of parallel lines. Another was my father away from home—the smartest dad ever! And then there was the avid Cleveland Indians fan who was famous for teaching without his shoes. These professors are the reason I not only studied math but loved studying math. If you love to integrate and differentiate, study mathematics. But if you want to be challenged, stretched and supported on your path to understanding, study mathematics at AU.

Some Highlights

  • The required number of hours for a mathematics major is small enough to permit students to pursue a second major in a related field and still graduate in four years.
  • Graduates have excellent success obtaining secondary teaching positions.
  • Students have completed internships with insurance companies and marketing firms.
  • The Mathematics - Economics major provides training for students interested in math, finance and business.
  • A strong relationship with the Computer Science Department encourages students to pursue work in both mathematics and computer science fields.
  • Faculty member Dr. Kenneth V. Turner, Jr. has co-authored textbooks on statistics and experimental design.

Unique Opportunities

Students have participated in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Undergraduate Research Program in Michigan and in a research program at the University of Washington.
