AU TeachScience

Want to make a difference? Make teaching science your mission

Anderson University is establishing a new program with local schools and businesses to enable students to become the best educators in science possible. Close interaction with faculty (elementary, middle, high school and university) and students as well as multiple teaching opportunities, this program will allow you to serve the community at large in the role of an effective science teacher.

You will follow a curriculum that not only includes the benefits of a liberal arts education, but also allows you to experience the joys of teaching throughout your few short years at AU. This program is integrated between the science divisions and the education department and combines the advantages of both areas into one major. With the need of specifically trained science educators in the country (and even world) today, this program will prepare you for one of the most exciting and dynamic challenges in education.

Click on Program Description to examine the objectives and core courses in this exciting program.

Click on License Tracks to see the various tracks that you can follow within the program. Also listed are some of the core courses required for that track.

Click on a department (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) to see an example curriculum of what courses an incoming freshman with the intent of science education major will take. (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics are listed, but other tracks exist.) For those who are changing majors, transferring into AU, college graduates, or transitional program students, the schedule courses will be similar but will be tailored as much as possible to fit your needs.
