Where do students live?

If a student is single, under 22 years of age, registered full time, not living with parents, and not yet a senior, he or she will be required to live in one of six residence halls or four apartment facilities on campus. Each hall has a full-time resident director, and each floor has a student resident assistant who works at building relationships throughout the hall. To create community, residence halls hold Bible studies, volleyball tournaments, cookouts, and a special residence-hall version of the Olympics.

How safe is the campus?

Anderson University is located in a residential area on the east side of Anderson, a community of 60,000. The university provides security protection seven days a week, 24 hours a day, employing experienced full-time police officers. AU Police/Security Services also employs up to 30 student security officers each year. The campus is patrolled 24 hours a day, with as many as three officers patrolling strategic locations during late evenings. The exterior doors of all residence halls are locked 24 hours a day, seven days a week; residents may enter the hall with card access. An escort service for safety and medical purposes only is available to students. Emergency phones are located at the entrances of most buildings, and emergency phone towers have been installed in several outdoor locations around campus.

Go to Police/Security Department Web site for brochures, hours and more information.

What do students do when they become ill?

The Health Services office is staffed by two registered nurses Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. A family physician maintains limited hours on campus. Health Services provides personnel and facilities to treat routine illnesses and accidents, diagnostic and referral services, and medical and nutritional advice. Certain medications and supplies are also provided. It is important to note that health services are available only to students who have health record forms on file in the clinic before fall classes begin.
