Tour Anderson University

Krissy Hellwig

I have been working with AU admissions since the fall of 2004 and I enjoy it more and more. Attending school here was a great experience but having the opportunity to be a part of the University at a different level has been wonderful. I feel so blessed to be able to work with students who are beginning a very exciting time in their lives.

Education Background
I graduated in May of 2004 with a degree in Spanish and a minor in Sociology. I transferred to AU after my second year of community college. In college, I was involved with various community organizations where I was able to practice my Spanish. I also worked with the Modern Foreign Language Department and in the Office of Admissions as a student worker. In addition, I had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Chile for a semester.

Personal Bio
I grew up in the small town of Exeter, California where my family still lives. After completing two years at the local community college, I decided to transfer to a four year university. It was at the suggestion of my pastor that I even considered AU. After visiting the campus, I knew it was the place I wanted to complete my schooling. Coming from California, my experience is unlike any that I could have had if I had stayed close to home. I am so thankful for the relationships I have as a result of coming to AU. AU is an integral part of who I am today.

Favorite Things About AU
Faculty and staff truly care about the student; you don’t have to fit the mold at AU, there isn’t one; a ton of opportunities for involvement from Rugby to travel in Romania; a safe place to discover who you are; and AU has actual changes in season, unlike where I grew up!

The College Search
When looking for a college, I believe the best advice I can give is to visit the school. By meeting students and professors, seeing classrooms, dorms, etc. on campus, you’ll get a good feeling of whether or not you should be there. A second piece of advice: don’t limit yourself! You never know what opportunities might be available to you if you’re not willing to think outside the box!
