Tour Anderson University

Jason Varner

It does feel good to be a Raven. Since 2005, I have served the university as a staff member, joining the Admissions Team in summer 2009. Choosing an education is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. I really enjoy serving as a resource for families throughout the stages of their college-seeking journey. Anderson University has shaped me in incredible ways, providing me a safe, yet ever-challenging environment for growth.

Education Background
I graduated from Anderson University in 2002 with a double major in history, and Bible and religion. I then earned my Master of Theological Studies degree from the School of Theology. While a student at AU, I played every intramural sport known to humankind, explored the world on five Tri-S trips, and enjoyed the fellowship of the Dativus men’s service and social club. But that’s just scratching the surface; next time we talk, ask me about the rest!

Personal Bio
I went to high school in Frostproof, FLa. Deciding to leave "the Sunshine State" for central Indiana was a leap of faith for me, but I can honestly say I exchanged one home for another. In my free time, I enjoy reading the newspaper over a cup of cheap coffee, backpacking, traveling as much as I can, and developing new hobbies (last fall I built an old-fashioned apple press!).

Favorite Things About AU
The Tri-S program. Intramurals. Dunn Hall spirit. Walks in the Valley. Sitting under the skylights in the Nicholson Library with a good book...

The College Search
I would encourage you to think about college as more than just an academic pursuit. There is so much more to a solid education! At AU, you’ll be challenged on spiritual, cultural, physical, social, and intellectual levels. Enjoy the process. Remember that it really is your choice. Come for a visit and see how AU might fit into your future.
