Remember to file the FAFSA as early as you can but keep in mind the following:

Before completing the FAFSA online:
You will need a PIN number to be able to “sign” your FAFSA electronically.

To apply for a PIN number go to www.pin.ed.gov. Remember both student and parent will need a PIN number. Your PIN number will be e-mailed to you (or mailed if you do not provide your e-mail address.)
If you file the FAFSA without first having a PIN number one will mailed or e-mailed to you. PIN numbers do not expire and can be used when filing for financial aid in future years. Make sure you remember your PIN number and don’t share it with anyone even with persons offering to help you complete your FAFSA. Parents with multiple children applying for financial aid can use the same PIN for each child.
If you do not want to file online, FAFSA’s are available through your high school counselor, public library, or from AU’s Office of Student Financial Services.
