Certified Manager Certificate

As a manager, you are a leader, an organizer, and a planner. Now it's time to be recognized for your work. Whether you are new to the management world or have several years of experience or whether you have a business degree or no degree at all, the Certified Manager Certificate offered through Anderson University provides the knowledge and analytical and decision-making skills required to carry out daily tasks with professionalism and competency.

Certification provides a public credential that recognizes competency and credibility in your professional field. Certification validates a standard of acquired knowledge and skill which distinguishes professionals from their colleagues. Certification signifies individual accomplishment and commitment and supports career placement and advancement.

The Certified Manager Certificate consists of five three-hour courses:

Management Foundations (ORGL 1200)
This module is a study of management as it pertains to the dynamics of leadership, strategic planning, and the controlling of resources.

Management Strategies (ORGL 1300)
The major theme of this module is a comprehensive overview of two of the core functions of management, planning and organizing, and the skills to carry them out.

Management Skills (ORGL 1400)
This module is a comprehensive overview of the core functions of management, leading, and controlling.

Issues in Human Resource Management (ORGL 2200) – elective
Course work in this module concentrates on the function of human resource management and analyzes the various ways it can impact the workforce.

Social Problems and Their Impact on the Workplace (ORGL 2300) – elective
This module takes the point of view that major contemporary American social problems, such as poverty, racism, sexism, drug and alcohol abuse, and illiteracy, impact the workplace and individual workers directly and indirectly.

Organizational Ethics (ORGL 2400)
This study in business ethics will provide instruction in systematically applying standard moral and ethical approaches in analyzing issues, problems, and cases.

Upon completion of coursework, all participants receive a certificate of achievement. Graduates of the program will also be prepared to pass the exam to become a Certified Manager through the Institute of Certified Professional Mangers. Anderson University offers classes toward the Certified Manager Certificate for credit. A total of 15 credit hours may be applied to a bachelor's degree through the School of Adult Learning.
