Program Highlights
To meet scheduling needs - and because the course work is accelerated - ADVANCE students attend one class, one night per week. Classes are taught in a seminar format, with much of the work being completed outside the class.
Graduates of the ADVANCE program must complete a minimum of 43 semester hours and document a total of 124 semester hours accepted by Anderson University with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
All students complete a research project designed to:
- generate new knowledge gained from research and synthesis on the chosen topic
- enhance presentation skills
- hone writing skills
- develop competent research skills for gathering and synthesizing data toward usable conclusions
- There are 14 major courses that take 20 months to complete.
- Courses last five-seven weeks, meeting one night per week for four hours.
- Courses run consecutively, allowing students to concentrate on just one subject at a time.
- Class size is small, only averaging 14-20.
- Students progress through the program as a group, starting and ending together.
- At least 25 years of age and/or 3-5 years of significant work experience.
- Completion of 52 or more semester hours of credit from accredited institutions. If less than 60 semester hours have been earned, students should meet with an ADVANCE advisor to discuss options.
- Cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (on 4.0 scale) or better on all prior academic work.
- Completion of an English composition course prior to entering the program.
- Completion of application packet and payment of the non-refundable application fee.
All courses must be from regionally accredited institutions with a grade of "C-" or better to be considered for transfer evaluation.
Credit for Prior Learning- A maximum of 30 nontraditional semester credits may be earned through a combination of non-collegiate instruction, testing and experiential learning. Such credits include: military training, CLEP exams and portfolio documentation.
- In the admission process, the ADVANCE Program's assessment counselor will provide each adult learner an opportunity to obtain an estimate of the number of credits he/she can earn through portfolio.
- Complete the coursework, including the Action Research Project, in the Organizational Leadership major.
- Accumulate 124 semester credits that are officially accepted by Anderson University.
- Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (4.0 scale) or above in the 124 credits comprising the degree program.
- Meet all general education requirements.
