Behind Every Independent Computer Animator…

At the Anderson University alumni screening of Hoodwinked, several proud family members hovered around the filmmakers. Two of them, Tim Hooten and Cameron Edwards, sat in the reception hall, watching their spouses Katie Edwards Hooten and Todd Edwards greet the audience members and sign autographs. While the entire AU community feels pride in the achievements of the alumni filmmakers, these two are among those intimates of the Edwards, Gaithers, Stutzmans, and more who can claim actual ownership in the accomplishment.

“It’s so gratifying to see her working so well and being an incredible professional and the best mom I’ve ever known,” says Tim of his wife Katie. Their daughter Eva saw the movie for the first time that day. According to her parents, she laughed all the way through it, and was able to sing along with some of the songs, having been privy to the songwriting process. “That’s Todd’s song!” she exclaimed during the screening.

Cameron says that her favorite part of the movie is “when the credits come up on the big screen in the theatre; I got all emotional and teary-eyed.” She is immensely proud of every name on that list. It was the first time she saw the credits, she says, that she realized what they had accomplished. “This is it,” she remembers saying.

Even though the family members have seen the production process from its conception, the film hasn’t lost its freshness for them. “I haven’t gotten tired of watching it,” says Tim. This speaks not only to the endearing nature of the film, but of the love among the filmmakers’ families.
