The Anderson University men’s basketball team fell to hot-shooting Transylvania University 85-68 on Saturday at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest.
The Pioneers (16-3, 7-1 HCAC) shot 73 percent from the field in the first half and finished at 61 percent for the game. Transylvania missed only seven shots in the first half (19-of-26), including four on one possession.
The Ravens were led by Terry Coleman with a career-high 15 points, hitting 5-of-8 shots from both the field and the free throw line. Coleman also had six rebounds, including four on the offensive boards.
J.D. Clampitt also reached double figures with 11 points, including 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Ryan Foster led the Ravens with seven rebounds off the bench in nine minutes. Lloyd DeLoatch added four steals to his HCAC best 46 for the season and ranks 50th in the NCAA in thefts.
AU shot 42 percent for the game, including 48 percent in the first half. The Ravens also had a 19-7 advantage from the free throw line and a 34-33 edge on the boards. However, the Pioneers had a 26-10 lead in assists, a 5-1 edge in blocks and a 10-5 margin in steals.
AU (7-12, 2-6 HCAC) travels to HCAC foe Hanover College on Wednesday. The game will be carried live on the internet at 7:30 p.m.
