10 STRAIGHT NSCAA TEAM ACADEMIC AWARDS
I would like to welcome you to the Anderson University Women's Soccer website. Thank you for taking time to learn more about the institution, our 16-year-old soccer program and our 133,000 sq. ft. Wellness Center.
The Wellness Center has an indoor track, a cardiovascular center, a state of the art weight room, a fieldhouse that has four indoor basketball courts, classrooms and the Sports Medicine Center.
In 1993, Anderson put its first women's collegiate soccer team on the field. I felt fortunate enough to be hired to take this great group of young ladies starting in the fall of 2001. We ended with a 12-9-1 record and lost in the conference championship game 2-1.
We are looking for players that will consider themselves a scholar-athlete that will work hard in the classroom and on the field. We are looking for players that put their teammates first and expect the most from them in matches as well as training sessions. We want players that will work hard and want to be a part of a team focus.
This year marks the 10th year that the women have been tabbed NSCAA Academic All-Americans. The ladies continue to put their studies first and have a 3.3 GPA as a team. They have also been named NSCAA national ethic award winners for college soccer in all divisions for the 8th straight year.
The soccer team has made three European tours to Germany, Holland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, England, Ireland, Scotland and Italy, where they played Club teams and saw several historical sites such as Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, The Coliseum, The Pantheon, The Vatican and Anne Frank's house. They have also seen several prominent European soccer teams play as well as seeing opening day games of Manchester United and New Castle in 2007.
Team accomplishments:
Placed 24 women on the All-Conference teams
Have had 18 Great Lakes Region Academic players
Played in three conference tournament championships
Had the 2001 Freshman of the Year
