About the AU-EA Ambassador initiative
The AU-EA Ambassador initiative has been created in conjunction with AU-East Africa (AU-EA), AU's response to the global HIV/AIDS pandemic. The purpose of the AU-EA Ambassador initiative is three-fold:
- To raise money for the needs of two primary schools in Tanzania, Sanya Juu Primary School and Maakat Primary School. This will provide needed funding for a variety of needs identified by these schools.
- To educate about and advocate for East Africa.
- To promote true self-confidence through a lifestyle of service and compassion.
Any individual or group may nominate an AU male or female student (freshman through junior) to participate in the program. An $80 entry fee (payable to Anderson University) must accompany each nomination. The nomination deadline is Nov. 30, 2010. To submit a nomination, use the online nomination form.
Nominees will be evaluated primarily by their current involvement in service as well as by project ideas that educate and advocate for East Africa. They will also be paired with an AU-EA mentor. The selected nominee will be announced at the end of the AU-EA Ambassador event on February 24, 2011, in Reardon Auditorium. This student will serve as the AU-EA ambassador and travel all-expenses-paid to Tanzania May 9-26, 2011 with an AU-EA team.
