Can I be seen between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.?
Yes, but only by appointment. Often the nurses are attending meetings, teaching classes, and are involved in other business during the day. Appointments can be made by calling ext. 4222.
When is the physician available?
Dr. Scott Green is available by appointment only. Students must be seen by one of the registered nurse PRIOR to being scheduled with the physician. Dr. Green maintains limited hours on campus.
Can I get a physical done?
Health Services staff does not conduct sports physicals. Physicals for work or internship are at the physicians discretion.
Do I need any immunizations for my Tri-S trip?
Good question! It is very wise to call and ask this question early in your planning. There may be a significant cost for the needed immunizations, so plan your finances early. Depending on the travel destination and your past immunization history, Health Services staff can give you advise and suggest options for scheduling and receiving needed immunizations for travel. Travel clinics are held during each semester prior to Tri-S trip schedules. Call the health center for information concerning specific travel locations.
What about other immunizations?
Health Services staff is able to assist you with your immunization requirements. Occasionally, you may be required to purchase the serum with a physician’s prescription, which the health center can provide you with, at a local pharmacy. You may then return the medication to Health Services for administration at no charge.
Can I have my allergy shots administered at Health Services?
Unfortunately you cannot. Health Services staff will be happy to assist in the arrangement of allergy injections at Dr. Scott Green’s office. Health Services is unprepared to care adequately for you should you experience an adverse reaction to the injection. This inusres the very highest level of care for our students.
Do you do X-Rays or laboratory procedures?
We do not perform X-Rays or laboratory procedures in the office. However, Health Services staff will be happy to supply you with the necessary requisitions should such services be required at a local hospital. The student is responsible for payment for services rendered outside of Health Services.
What about my TB skin test?
Health Services staff administers TB skin tests on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday during regular hours. It is then necessary for the student to return to Health Services in 48 hours to have the test read. The cost of each TB skin test is $5.00 in cash or check. Students may not charge student accounts for this service.
Do you do pregnancy tests or tests for STD’s?
Health Services staff will work with each student individually in order to secure the care needed.
Can you fill prescriptions?
Can I obtain medications if I am ill at Health Services?
Yes, medications for common illnesses are available to students at no cost. Prescriptions may also be written if the condition warrents.
How do I get a copy of my medical record?
Your record will not be released to anyone, including your parents, without your permission. If you need your records, Health Services staff will provide them only after you sign a release authorization. Medical Record Release Authorization Form
The Health Center follows the law with regard to retention of old records. Unfortuantley, the volume of records generated over a period of many years makes it impractical to retain records indefinitely. We encourage students to obtain copies of their records when they leave school for their own personal benefit. We retain records for 7 years after our last date of contact with a student, and then the records are destroyed.
