On-Campus Recruiter Guidelines

A wide variety of employers and graduate schools visit our campus throughout the year in search of students interested in part-time and summer employment, internships and post-graduate study and career positions. These opportunities provide either informal presentations by the employer or scheduled one-on-one interviews. Listings of scheduled recruiter visits are available in Career Development.

  1. Though we are an open campus we are also a private employer. Because we are private, we have the right to limit advertising and recruiting to specified locations on the Anderson University campus. Specific recruiting activities through Career Development include:
    • Any job fair - Reardon Auditorium or Olt Student Center
    • Open format - on-campus recruiting – Table reserved for the bottom of Decker Hall
    • Closed format - on-campus recruiting schedule – room and schedule reserved through Career Development.
  2. Anderson University/Career Development welcomes recruiters whose products/services match the lifestyle expectations of the Anderson Church of God. The administration of our graduate programs have requested that we not open on-campus recruiting to schools that are in direct competition to our academic programs such as seminaries, schools of theology, MBA programs, Graduate Teaching Programs (MEd), Graduate Music Programs, Graduate Nursing Programs (MSN/MBA). We will post information regarding all graduate programs onto College Central Network (CCN)
  3. ALL recruiters must be designated by their employer to be a recruiter. Recruiters must be in a management position recognized by the employer, not a sales representative or a mentor. This means that recruiters should have hiring capabilities (i.e., receiving applications for employment and interviewing).
  4. To foster diversity in our recruiter population, we must limit formal on-campus recruiter visits to once a semester.
  5. Recruiters must request, complete and sign a "Request to Recruit On-Campus" form from Career Development each time they wish to come on campus. Visits are open format, informal presentations in Decker Commons unless one-on-one interviewing is requested.
  6. Open interviewing should be arranged through Career Development at least 14 days (2weeks) in advance of visit. Visitors requesting one-on-one interviewing required 30 days notice in order to allow Career Development proper timing to market to the student body. Career Development reserves the right to refuse a visit without advance notification.
  7. The university restricts recruiters to certain areas of campus. On Campus recruiters are restricted to Decker Commons unless arrangements have been made through a faculty or department advisor. Passing out business cards or distributing posters without expressed permission from Career Development, a faculty advisor, or other university supervisor will be considered inappropriate solicitation and could result in that company being banned from campus.
  8. Currently we offer limited access to view student & alumni résumés through CCN. This access is given upon approval only by the Director of Career Development.
WE MARKET YOUR COMPANY

To serve our recruiters, Career Development takes to following steps to market your company/agency to our students. We will:

  • Inform professors via e-mail in major area(s) regarding your visit to campus and send your recruiting information to those departments.
  • Post your up-coming visit and open positions onto College Central Network.
  • Market your OCR date using Ravenet, Stall Talk, and other appropriate university communication tools.
  • Post your job posters in appropriate locations on campus.
  • Make all necessary arrangements for one-on-one interviewing

Due to FERPA and to protect the safety of our students, we cannot give employers a list of student names, majors, or e-mail. Military recruiters who fall under the guidelines of the Solomon Act are exempt from this rule. Military recruiters can receive limited information regarding students through the Registrar’s office.

Recruiting employers must recognize that campus visits are a privilege not a right. All complaints regarding solicitation will be investigated. Should an employer refuse to abide by these guidelines, they will be asked by security to leave the campus.
