Does it really matter?
Wondering if your gift will really matter is a natural thought to have before and after making a gift to the university. Even if you assume your gift will make a difference, you may still wonder how much of an impact your gift really makes to students and the university.
Your gift will make a difference.
Giving an unrestricted gift provides the financial assistance that often makes the difference in whether a student can afford to pursue their education at Anderson University.
By giving to the university you are investing in lives.
Aside from making an important financial difference, even more remarkable is the difference your gift can make on individual lives. The following is just one example of how the generosity of giving impacts the life of a student:
Making Connections
My experiences at Anderson University have been above and beyond anything I could have imagined. I’ve made amazing friends and grown tremendously both academically and spiritually. I even co-founded a Christian band that has had great success!
God’s hand has been evident throughout my college career. I was set on attending another college before I visited AU, but when I first arrived, I was deeply impressed with the beauty of the valley and the friendliness of the people. The clincher came a couple of weeks after my visit when my AU admissions counselor recognized me out of a crowd of thousand. I knew then that Anderson was somewhere that I could be more than just another face, and that I would b able to make a difference.
My attending Anderson University was made possible mainly through the scholarship I received from the university for my grades and SAT scores. I also received a job with the Tele-Touch program calling university alumni and friends. Though the work was tough at times, I enjoyed the company of my colleagues and talking with alumni. In fact, I worked with Tele-Touch all four years of college, and that not only helped me improve my communication skills but also allowed me spending money for the essentials of life…toothbrushes, gas, and Taco Bell!
My sophomore year I met Ben McDonald, a fellow musician and AU student. We connected instantly through our love of God, music, and people, and we began to play together. It wasn’t long before we had recruited three more musicians and adopted the name Sidewalk Prophets. Our mission has been to speak God’s truth in love, and we’ve spread our message across campus, and on tour to places like Florida, Texas, Maryland, and Tennessee.
With only one semester left of student teaching before receiving my degree in English education, I know it’s going to be hard to leave behind the friendships and the campus that have had such an impact on my life. Sidewalk Prophets may continue, or I may end up teaching English. But the most important lesson I’ve learned at AU is to cherish time. God has given us all so much, and I know he dwells daily on campus in each of our hearts and is working within so many lives at Anderson University. I wouldn’t trade these years for anything.
