Title: AU set to assist 2000 International Convention
Anderson University is preparing once again to provide assistance to the 114th International Convention of the Church of God, June 16-21, organized by Church of God Ministries. Under the theme “Picture the Possibilities,” the convention offers a full slate of activities and events. Several activities sponsored by the university are among the many selections offered during the convention.
Friday, June 16,
Anderson University presents a celebration of Servanthood. A national celebration featuring Jay Rouse, Amy Rouse, Marc Clarke and Kim Tabor. Dr. James Edwards, president of Anderson University, will host this special event at 7 p.m. in Warner Auditorium.
The Anderson University Board of Trustees will host a reception for Dr. James L. Edwards celebrating 10 years of service as president. The reception will be held from 9 to 11 p.m. in Reardon Auditorium Lobby
Sunday, June 18
The Anderson University Class of 1950 will gather for a reunion reception in Edwards dining room, Olt Student Center. This reception, gathering at 3 p.m., will provide classmates an opportunity to mingle and interact with President Edwards and others from the university.
The 2000 AU Heritage Dinner will begin at 5 p.m. in Schield dining room, Olt Student Center. To make reservations for the dinner please call 765-641-4068.
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY ALUMNI AND FRIENDS GOLF OUTING will be held at Yule Golf Course in Alexandria, Indiana. The cost for the outing is $27 per person (plus $22 for a golf cart). Kent Chase, PGA professional and director of the Kent Chase Golf Academy will be giving a demonstration at 7:45 a.m. and a free clinic at 12:30 p.m. for interested players. ANDERSON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY PICNIC. The AU School of Theology will host a picnic on Monday, June 19, from 4 – 6:30 p.m. in the valley of Anderson University and the South Patio. Please call 765-641-4534 for more information.
WARNER SALLMAN RELIGIOUS ART COLLECTION. The original religious art collection of Warner Sallman owned by Anderson University will be displayed and available to the Church of God Convention. Convention attendees can view the collection June 16-21, between the hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Sunday hours are 12 noon to 4 p.m.) in the Krannert Fine Arts Center.
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY OPEN RECREATION. AU’s O.C. Lewis Gymnasium will be available to convention guests for open recreation on Sunday, June 18, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. and between Monday, June 19, and Wednesday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY 7TH ANNUAL BASKETBALL CAMP. The AU Basketball Camp will meet in the O.C. Lewis Gymnasium on Monday, June 19, and Wednesday, June 21. Ages 11-17 will meet between 1-2:30 p.m. while ages 7-10 will meet between 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY ALUMNI GAZEBO. The alumni gazebo will be open between Monday, June 19, and Wednesday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
GAZEBO SING. Special musical performance will be hosted by the AU alumni gazebo between Monday, June 19, and Wednesday, June 21, at 1 pm.
GUSTAV JEENINGA MUSEUM OF BIBLE AND NEAR EASTERN STUDIES. The Museum will be open between Monday, June 19, and Wednesday, June 21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the lower level of the School of Theology building.
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY OBSERVATORY. The AU observatory will be open between Monday, June 19, and Wednesday, June 21, at 9 p.m. (weather permitting). Use northeast corner stairway in the Decker Hall breezeway to access the observatory.
GUIDED CAMPUS TOURS. Tours of the Anderson University campus will be available between Monday, June 19, and Wednesday, June 21, at 3:15 p.m. Interested persons should meet at the AU alumni Gazebo by the Krannert Fine Arts Center.
