Title: Anderson University set to assist 2001 Church of God Convention
Anderson University is preparing once again to provide assistance to the North American Convention of the Church of God, June 15-20, organized by Church of God Ministeries. Under the theme "Beyond Belief: The Kingdom Now," the convention offers a full slate of activities and events. Several activities sponsored by the university are among the many selections offered during the convention.
Friday, June 15
Anderson University presents God for Us. A national music celebration featuring Jay Rouse, Amy Rouse, Marc Clarke, and Kim Tabor. There will be a 300 voice choir and symphony orchestra conducted by Randy Vader. This special event will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Warner Auditorium.
Sunday, June 17
The 2001 AU Heritage Dinner will begin at 5 p.m. in Schield dining room, Olt Student Center. To make reservations for the dinner please call 765-641-4068.
Wednesday, June 20
The Anderson University Class of 1951 will gather for a reunion reception in the Church of God Ministries Auditorium. This reception, gathering at 3 p.m., will provide classmates an opportunity to mingle and interact persons from the university.
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY ALUMNI AND FRIENDS 27TH ANNUAL GOLF OUTING will be held Friday, June 15 at Yule Golf Course in Alexandria, Indiana. A continental breakfast will be served at 6:30 a.m. and tee off is at 7:30 a.m. The cost for the outing is $37 per person (includes a golf cart). WARNER SALLMAN RELIGIOUS ART COLLECTION. The original religious art collection of Warner Sallman owned by Anderson University will be displayed and available to the Church of God Convention. Convention attendees can view the collection June 15-20, between the hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Sunday hours are 12 noon to 4 p.m.) in the Krannert Fine Arts Center.
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY OPEN RECREATION. AU’s O.C. Lewis Gymnasium will be available to convention guests for open recreation on Sunday, June 17, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. and also Monday, June 18 through Wednesday, June 20, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY 7TH ANNUAL BASKETBALL CAMP. The AU Basketball Camp will meet in the O.C. Lewis Gymnasium Monday, June 18 through Wednesday, June 20. Ages 11-17 will meet between 1-2:30 p.m. while ages 7-10 will meet between 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Basketball Camp.
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY ALUMNI GAZEBO. The alumni gazebo will be open Monday, June 18 through Wednesday, June 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
GUSTAV JEENINGA MUSEUM OF BIBLE AND NEAR EASTERN STUDIES. The Museum will be open Monday, June 18 through Wednesday, June 20, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the lower level of the School of Theology building.
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY OBSERVATORY. The AU observatory will be open Monday, June 18 through Wednesday, June 20, at 9 p.m. (weather permitting). Use northeast corner stairway in the Decker Hall breezeway to access the observatory.
GUIDED CAMPUS TOURS. Tours of the Anderson University campus will be available Monday, June 18, through Wednesday, June 21 at 3:15 p.m. Interested persons should meet at the AU alumni Gazebo by the Krannert Fine Arts Center.
