Campus to assist 2002 convention

Anderson University is preparing once again to provide assistance to the North American Convention of the Church of God, June 14-19, organized by Church of God Ministeries. Under the theme "Experiencing God’s Presence," the convention offers a full slate of activities and events. Several activities sponsored by the university are among the many selections offered during the convention.

Friday, June 14 Anderson University presents “Swwet Land of Liberty.” This is a national music celebration with guest Jay Rouse, Amy Rouse, Kim Tabor, Brian McSee, and Indiana Congressman Mike Pence. There will be a 250-voice choir and symphony orchestra conducted by Randy Vader. This special event will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Warner Auditorium.

Saturday, June 15 The Anderson University Press will conduct of a special reception at 10 a.m. in the Hospitality Room, Fine Arts, room 170.

Sunday, June 16 The 2001 AU Heritage Dinner will begin at 5 p.m. in Schield dining room, Olt Student Center. To make reservations for the dinner please call 765-641-4068.

Monday, June 17 The Anderson University Class of 1952 will gather for a reunion reception in the Church of God Ministries Auditorium. This reception, gathering at 3 p.m., will provide classmates an opportunity to mingle and interact persons from the university.

Conferences/Meetings/Activities ANDERSON UNIVERSITY ALUMNI AND FRIENDS 27TH ANNUAL GOLF OUTING will be held Friday, June 14 at Yule Golf Course in Alexandria, Indiana. A continental breakfast will be served at 6:30 a.m. and tee off is at 7:30 a.m. Contact the AU Office of Alumni Relations at 765-641-4100 for more information.

GIVING AND RECIEVING WITH CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITITIES. Leader: Robert Coffman, attorney and executive counsel for the AU Development Office. Monday, June 78, from 1:30-3:50 p.m. in Krannert Fine Arts Center, room 170.

ANDERSON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY PICNIC. The AU School of Theology will host a picnic on Monday, June 17, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the Valley just outside of the School of Theology. Please call 765-641-4534 for more information.

WARNER SALLMAN RELIGIOUS ART COLLECTION. The original religious art collection of Warner Sallman owned by Anderson University will be displayed and available to the Church of God Convention. Convention attendees can view the collection between the hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Sunday hours are 12 noon to 4 p.m.) in the Krannert Fine Arts Center.

ANDERSON UNIVERSITY 8TH ANNUAL BASKETBALL CAMP. The AU Basketball Camp will meet in the O.C. Lewis Gymnasium. Ages 11-17 will meet between 1-2:30 p.m. while ages 7-10 will meet between 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

GUSTAV JEENINGA MUSEUM OF BIBLE AND NEAR EASTERN STUDIES. The Museum will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the lower level of the School of Theology building.

ANDERSON UNIVERSITY OBSERVATORY. The AU observatory will be open Monday, June 17 through Wednesday, June 19, at 9 p.m. (weather permitting). Use northeast corner stairway in the Decker Hall breezeway to access the observatory.

GUIDED CAMPUS TOURS. Tours of the Anderson University campus will be available Monday, June 17, through Wednesday, June 19, at 3:15 p.m. Interested persons should meet at the AU alumni Gazebo by the Krannert Fine Arts Center.
