Anderson University recently announced plans to “webcast” approximately 75 live athletics events on through the web during the 2004-05 academic year. Sports that will have internet coverage this year include baseball and football plus men’s and women’s basketball and soccer. All 10 football games will be part of the internet broadcast package along with 20 men’s basketball, 15 women’s basketball and 10 soccer contests. About 20 baseball games will be broadcast on the internet next spring. Stretch Internet will be the host site for Anderson University athletics on the web. A broadcast schedule can be found in the Athletics section of the Anderson University Web site (www.anderson.edu/athletics).
"We are extremely pleased to provide a comprehensive internet broadcast schedule over the course of the 2004-05 school year," said Michael Zapolski, Anderson's Director of Athletics. "Streaming live audio over the web represents a tremendous marketing tool for the University, and allows us a unique opportunity to differentiate ourselves from other schools. My sense is that the broadcasts will be an outstanding recruiting tool and provide a bridge to alumni and supporters of our program."
Stretch Internet streams its broadcasts at a low bit rate over the QuickTime Player. The company also provides full on-line and CD archiving of each broadcast and distributes monthly user reports to document listener volume and demographics. Dave Edwards, Anderson University graduate and former wrestling coach, will be the primary announcer throughout the year.
Anderson University is a private, four-year, Christian liberal arts institution of approximately 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students.
