The Anderson University SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) team at the Falls School of Business placed in the Top 12 in the country at the 2005 SIFE USA National Exposition in Kansas City, Missouri. The exposition pitted 165 SIFE teams from universities around the country against each other. The teams were judged on their impact throughout the year by a panel of businesspersons. Out of 165 teams, Anderson University SIFE placed third in the semi-final round league after moving into the Top 20 the day before.

"AU SIFE has accomplished something remarkable," said faculty advisor Mike Wiese, professor of marketing at the Falls School of Business. "In one year, we came from not making it to the national competition to being in the Top 12 in the country."

With a two-tier design: SIFE Education and SIFE Consulting, Anderson University SIFE worked to change the Anderson community by teaching business concepts and assisting small businesses with the creation of logos, financial reports, websites and databases.

"I am so proud to be a part of AU SIFE," said Bethany Smith, vice president of competition. "Not only have we made a real difference in our community, we have been rewarded for our efforts. What a way to end my college career," added the recent graduate.

Anderson University SIFE earned a chance to compete in Kansas City after winning their regional competition in Cincinnati. Overall, over 500 teams competed in the SIFE USA competition.

The AU SIFE team is already looking forward to next year. With plans to expand their current program into international territory and launch statewide educational ethics curriculum, the SIFE team at the Falls School of Business feels that twelfth place is only the beginning.
