The college years, a new beginning starts when students become college students. Most students may not realize that college is a time of faith exploration and discovery, a journey towards a faith that is more authentically one’s own. College has a lot to offer and Anderson University is doing just that. Orientation for new students is scheduled for August 25-28. The theme for New Student Orientation 2005 is Real Faith: Certain Mystery, Making Room for God.

“At AU, students are the 'main thing', so welcoming a new class of freshmen and transfer students is both exciting and important,” said Brent Baker, vice president for Student Life “We hope that our Orientation program will provide an easy opportunity to make new friends, get acquainted with new surroundings and make a great start towards an Anderson University degree.”

When speaking of “real faith” one could say a real faith is one that makes room for joys and discoveries as well as the pain and certain mystery that will inevitably be a part of the journey. Genuine faith development involves becoming more aware of and accepting of the “grayness” of life—recognition that life, faith and God do not always fit into neat and tidy, black and white constructs or preconceived ideas about who He is and how He should “show up” in our lives. It has been said that if one can verify it then you don’t need faith—so faith assumes uncertainty and unknown mystery.
