Why do you choose to teach/work at Anderson University?
I chose Anderson University because I could not imagine teaching anywhere else. While receiving my MBA at AU, and still working in industry, I saw something in the faculty that I longed for — a deep sense of calling and purpose, and relationships with one another that were much deeper than average "colleagues." At the time, I didn't know that I would end up teaching, but I did know that I would forever be connected to this unique and life-changing place.

What is something that you have been part of at AU that brings you joy?
Being a part of the everyday fabric of AU brings me great joy, but the parts I like the most are when students drop into my office to chat, run an idea by me, ask for interviewing advice, or long for a mentor to listen and advise on even the deepest topics of life. I am overjoyed when a student whom I have seen grow from a fearful freshman to a confident upperclassman prepares him/herself for graduation and takes that leap of faith of entering the workforce. I am proud because I know with certainty they will be met with success and they will change the lives of others much as they have changed mine.

What do you like to do for fun?
For fun, I love to travel with my family. I love Europe and anywhere with water and a beach — and preferably warm weather. I am a complete die-hard yogi and I practice whenever I can. It brings me a sense of calm along with the physical benefits. My kids are involved in sports (baseball, basketball, all-star cheerleading), so I love attending their functions and cheering them on! I also enjoy social networking (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).

What is one thing that makes you unique?
If you asked my family, they would give you a hundred reasons why I am "unique" — though their definition of the term may differ! One unique fact about me is that I am also a fiction writer/author. I write under the pen name Lola T. Parker (my daughter's nickname is Lola, my son's name is Parker, and my husband is Todd) and I am currently trying to sell a trilogy called the Fenix Series to a literary agent. Wish me luck!
