Why do you choose to teach/work at Anderson University?
AU is a small, Christian school, within commuting distance of my Indianapolis home. But more importantly, I felt an immediate "connection" to the FSB faculty. Not only do they know their disciplines but they are dedicated teachers, caring advisors, great people, and they know how to have fun. There are no politics or big egos as encountered at other schools. As I got to know the support staff, I found they are of the same cut of cloth. I felt that way from the first interview, and still do.
What is something that you have been part of at AU that brings you joy?
I always enjoyed the creativity of the students, especially in my Principles of Marketing classes when they were required to invent and make a working prototype of a product made out of a recycled material such as plastic milk jugs, then write a marketing plan to sell it. They amazed me!
What do you like to do for fun?
For meaning, I volunteer at a local, low-income grade school as a first grade reading coach, story time guy, and magician; and for some, the only stand-up male in their lives. For "fun," I like to fish, read light stuff like John Grisham, garden, and travel.
What is one thing that makes you unique?
I have quite an extensive Santa Claus collection. Some are old, some are very new, purchased at stores or craft fairs or I've received them as gifts. I would love to decorate with them all year long...but they are only on display between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
