HISTORY

The history of what is now known as the Falls School of Business is a story of dedication, commitment and growth. The Falls School of Business had its inception in the 1942-43 school year as the Department of Commerce. It was a one-teacher department offering 18 different courses. During 1947 and 1948 Dr. Harold Linamen and Dr. Glenn Falls joined the department and jointly provided strong leadership, excellent teaching and stability until they retired in 1985. The dedication and commitment of Drs. Falls and Linamen provided the strong foundation that the FSB has continued to build upon since the time of their retirement.

Following a time of leadership transition, the University made a renewed and expanded commitment to the Department during the 1989-90 school year. The results of this new commitment have shaped direction and growth during the last decade. That growth has included:

  • 1991 The undergraduate curriculum undergoes a major revision.
  • 1992 The School of Business is formed.
  • 1992 MBA program is inaugurated. (The first graduate program outside of the School of Theology at Anderson University)

  • 1995 MBA program also receives ACBSP accreditation.
  • 1995 The School of Business joins the Higher Education Partnership at the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township in Indianapolis. The second MBA site is started in Lawrence Township (a suburb of Indianapolis).
  • 1997 Corporate Partnership MBA Program starts in Indianapolis. This third site brings the total MBA enrollment to over 150 students.
  • 1998 Master of Accountancy program receives approval by University faculty. The program is designed to start in the fall of 2000.
  • 2000 A cohort starts at Walker Information and Delta Faucet. MBA enrollment reaches 170.
  • 2001 School of Business moves into new facilities in Hardacre Hall. School of Business becomes the R. Glenn Falls School of Business as a way to honor the many years of service of Dr. Falls, and as a way of recognizing the progress of the School.
Doctor of Business Administration, aimed at individuals teaching business in college and university settings, is launched.
  • 2002 Major undergraduate curriculum revision is implemented.
