Anderson University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
The Falls School of Business is further accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
ACBSP is an independent agency that encourages, promotes and recognizes
outstanding business education in undergraduate and graduate
institutions. The organization focuses on colleges and universities who
have the teaching/learning process as their primary mission. There are
currently over 430 member institutions in the United States and
globally, of which approximately 261 are accredited
baccalaureate/graduate institutions.
The Falls School of Business was accredited in 1994, the first member
institution of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities to
receive this prestigious accreditation.
The Falls School of Business has been a very active member of ACBSP,
with former Dean Ken Armstrong serving eight years on the Board of
Commissioners for the Baccalaureate/Graduate Commission and on the
Board of Directors. As part of his service, he served one year as Chair
of the Baccalaureate/Graduate Commission, and four years as an officer
of the Board of Directors, including one year as the President of the
Board.
ADVANTAGES OF ACCREDITATION
Specialized business accreditation is something that demands additional
effort above and beyond what is required by the North Central
Association of Colleges and Schools. In fact, many MBA programs in the
region do not hold specialized business program accreditation. The
Falls School of Business at Anderson University has elected to maintain
accreditation with ACBSP for a variety of reasons:
- Students are assured of the quality of their business programs.
- Membership in ACBSP provides the ability to host a chapter of
Delta Mu Delta honorary society, recognizing accomplishments of
business students.
- Employers are assured that individuals who have attended an
accredited institution have been exposed to a comprehensive and
relevant curriculum.
- Employers can expect better prepared individuals.
- Society is reasonably assured of the high quality leadership from graduates of accredited programs.
- Society benefits from the increased productivity and international competitiveness resulting from quality business education.
- Faculty are assisted in obtaining adequate support for quality.
- The demonstrated pursuit of accreditation reinforces a commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and scholarship.
ACCREDITATION STATUS
In the fall of 2003, ACBSP awarded reaffirmation of
accreditation for the Falls School of Business without any
qualifications, conditions, or notes. It is extremely rare for a
business school to receive such a clean-bill-of-health. The report
provided a strong endorsement of the quality educational processes in
place within the Falls School of Business. Almost all Indiana business
graduate schools advertise having some kind of accreditation. However,
not all accreditations are the same. Some accreditations are general
university accreditations and some are business specific
accreditations. Anderson University and the Falls School of Business
have both.
