UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

Falls School of Business offers majors in accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing. In addition, there are joint majors in music business and computer science, and a business administration major available to students interested in double majors. Falls School of Business recognizes the global business environment of today, and will work with interested students to individually design an interdisciplinary cognate in international business. There are minors in accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing.

The accounting major is designed to provide a knowledge base in both financial and managerial accounting principles, procedures and analytical tools. Accounting courses, along with the required business core, exposes the student to a broad perspective of accounting and other business issues needed for management responsibility within a company, practice in the field of public accounting, or continued studies in a graduate program.

Accounting majors who plan to enter the public accounting field should plan to complete at least 150 credit hours before they complete their university education.  Licensing of certified public accountants is at the discretion of individual states, and most states require 150 hours to either site for the CPA exam or for licensing.  Options for students include a 5-year undergrad program at A.U. or completion of a 4-year undergrad program with additional hours at the master’s level elsewhere.  Majors should check early in their program with their accounting advisor about which option to pursue.

Courses in business administration are designed to provide general understanding of the operation of organizations, preparation for careers in administration in business and various other kinds of societal organizations, and preparation for graduate study.
