Staff employees working at least 20 hours per week, or 50% of full-time, in a benefit-eligible position receive paid time off under the university’s earned time off plan. Time off is earned and credited to employee earned-time account each month. See Benefits Handbook (page 10) for information regarding conversion of earned time to sick leave reserve at the end of each calendar year.
Staff employees not eligible for earned time due to the nature of their work (i.e., resident directors and academic support staff) receive sick-leave hours credited to a sick leave reserve at the end of each calendar year. Sick-leave accrual is the equivalent of one month per year of sick leave, prorated based on full-time equivalency.
