Faith and Science

The School of Science and Engineering at Anderson University is home to the disciplines of biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, math, and physics. Our mechanical engineering program is accredited by ABET, and our courses serve to prepare students for successful careers in a variety of disciplines. Students from all majors are welcome to take classes in STEM fields, including several minors as they seek to understand the world and their place in it.

At AU, we teach that science and faith are not mutually exclusive; while at the same time there is room for discussion in seeking truth. While these discussions happen in many of our courses, we offer a course called “Integration of Faith and Science” for students who would like to dig deeper.

We believe one of our greatest strengths is the faculty-student relationship at AU. Students are regularly invited into the homes of faculty for cookouts and celebrations throughout the year. The faculty regularly lead students in devotions and often become spiritual mentors as students seek to mature in their faith.

Dr. Chad Wallace, dean of the School of Science and Engineering, personally leads a discipleship, Bible study group and has led several mission trips to Honduras and Nicaragua where our pre-med students and alumni doctors treat those who have no access to medical care. Among our faculty, Dr. Wallace is not unique.

  • Faculty Credentials. Faculty have doctorate-level education in the fields of study they are teaching. Faculty are also involved in scholarly research in their fields.
  • Faculty-Student Interaction. Faculty offices are usually adjacent to a central “core area” where students congregate in each department. This allows easy access and opportunities for informal interaction between faculty and students.
