Deputy Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas will speak on April 13

Anderson University will welcome Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas to campus on Wednesday, April 13. The Deputy Secretary is visiting at the invitation of AU President John Pistole.

“Deputy Secretary Mayorkas is a leader in immigration policy and practice,” said Pistole. “His address to the community and time on campus is an opportunity for all of us to broaden our thinking and to hear perspectives from someone directly involved in issues of national security.”

Anderson University to conduct a police training exercise, April 14

Anderson University will conduct an active shooter police training on Thursday, April 14.

Anderson University will conduct a police training exercise to prepare for the possibility of a gun-related incident on Thursday, April 14, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. AU law enforcement and emergency response agencies from nearby communities will be involved in the training exercise. The training exercise will be conducted at the northwest corner of the campus near Decker Hall at the intersection of 5th Street and College Drive.

Anderson University junior Kayla Jones recently received the 2016 Nicholson Student Servant Leadership Award for her servant leadership on campus and in the community.


Anderson University junior Kayla Jones recently received the 2016 Nicholson Student Servant Leadership Award for her servant leadership on campus and in the community. The award was made possible by funds directed to the university by Anderson University donors.

The award is named in honor of Dr. Robert A. Nicholson, president emeritus of Anderson University. Jones was selected through a campus nomination process to receive this award because of her involvement in service activities. As a part of the award, she will receive $500.

AU prepares for commencement weekend, May 7

Anderson University will hold its annual commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 7, at the Kardatzke Wellness Center in Anderson, Indiana.


Anderson University will welcome nationally known author, scholar and pastor Leonard Sweet as the guest speaker for commencement on Saturday, May 7. Commencement will occur at 3 p.m. (EDT) in the Ward Fieldhouse of the Kardatzke Wellness Center. Anderson University will award two honorary degrees during commencement. Both Sweet and the Rev. Arnetta McNeese Bailey, executive director of Christian Women Connection, will receive Honorary Doctor of Divinity degrees. The event is free and open to the public.

Indianapolis Colts return to Anderson University for 2016 training camp

The Indianapolis Colts will conduct training camp at Anderson University for the seventh consecutive year this coming summer. Dates for the camp will be announced by the Indianapolis Colts. Thousands of fans attended the 2015 training camp, with opportunities to watch practices at AU's Macholtz Stadium and family activities available in Colts City.

AU Student United Way hosting benefit concert to support local children

On April 1 at 7 p.m., Anderson University’s Student United Way of Madison County is holding a benefit concert, In Tune with Community, to celebrate a cause that will change the lives of many children. Students at AU have planned the entirety of the concert with all proceeds benefitting local children through Born Learning, a chapter of United Way of Madison County.

AU offering biblical Hebrew online starting this summer

The Anderson University School of Theology is offering biblical Hebrew online this summer. This will be the first time Hebrew I and Hebrew II will be available worldwide.

Classes will be taught by AU alum Professor Sarah Blake LaRose, who holds a Master of Divinity degree from the university and is proficient in both Hebrew and Greek. During her studies at the School of Theology, LaRose served as a graduate assistant in both languages.
