MSN: Admission Requirements

GETTING STARTED

  1. Mail completed application along with a $50 check or money order payable to Anderson University and a copy of your RN license. This application will be kept on file until you complete all admission requirements.
  2. Ask three individuals to complete and return the Letter of Recommendation for you.
  3. Contact colleges that you have attended and have official transcripts mailed to School of Nursing Graduate Program, Anderson University, at 100 E. 5th St. Anderson, IN 46012.
  4. Complete and return the admission essay.
  5. Once your application file is complete, you should get an acceptance decision within four to six weeks.

Requirements for admission to the MSN-MBA degree program

  1. Bachelor's degree in nursing
  2. Current registered nurse license in the State of Indiana or eligibility for licensure
  3. Two years work experience
  4. Three letters of recommendation
  5. Admission essay
  6. Undergraduate courses in:
    • Accounting or Finance
    • Economics 
    • Management or Marketing (a BSN management course may fulfill this requirement) 
    • Statistics or Calculus (a BSN nursing research course may fulfill this requirement)
  7. 2.75 undergraduate GPA. Students with a GPA below 2.75 may be accepted provisionally.
  8. Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is required. GMAT may be waived if undergraduate GPA is 3.0 or higher. Click here for more information.
  9. Current CPR certification for healthcare providers from the American Heart Association.
  10. Criminal background check, negative for TB, and documentation of immunizations.

Additional Requirements for students with BSN from a foreign university

  1. Holds a registered nurse's license in Indiana or from another state or has applied for an Indiana license. Foreign licensure will not be accepted.
  2. Achieved at or above the following minimum scores for English competency:
    • TOEFL Paper version –  550
    • TOEFL Electronic version –  213  
    • TOEFL Internet version – 79
    • IELTS – 6.5 with no subscore lower than 6
  3. Complete bridge courses as determined by the faculty.

Cost of program

  • Tuition cohort rate for the 2009-10 academic year is $400 per credit hour. Typically students take 6 credit hours per term. Total cost of the program for 2008-2009 is $21,060 plus books.
  • Once you are enrolled, Anderson University guarantees to freeze tuition at the cohort rate for as long as you are in the program unless you stop out for more than one semester. The cohort rate is set during the summer term See the scholarship information page for funding opportunities.
