AIB Principles of Banking, a non-credit professional development course, is the standard introduction to the banking profession.

It touches on nearly every aspect of banking, from the fundamentals of negotiable instruments to contemporary issues and developments within the industry. This course addresses changes in the areas of servicing clients, emerging technology, and expanded banking powers and markets.

Principles of Banking is the foundation for all AIB training.

Course highlights include:
  • Relationships banks have with their customers and their communities
  • Creation of the Federal Reserve System and its role as agent and bank regulator
  • Deposit instruments and regulations
  • Negotiable instruments
  • How banks post checks to accounts
  • Bank lending and basic loan categories
  • Funds management, including asset/liability management and bank investments
  • Non-deposit services such as trust, investments and insurance
  • Bank security measures

Who Should Attend:
The content in Principles of Banking directly applies to a broad range of banking positions, from a Customer Service Representative to a Consumer Lending Manager.

Facilitator:
Tony Hueston, Assistant Vice President and Business Banking Risk Manager with Star Financial Bank, has 16 years of experience within the banking industry. Prior to joining Star Financial in 1998, he served as Branch Manager for National City Bank for six years. Tony has taught several banking courses including Principles of Banking, Introduction to Financial Statements, Analyzing Financial Statements, Business Loan Structure and Policy, and Utilizing the Underwriting System, Bank 2 Business. He has been active with the Junior Achievement Program and United Way of Madison County. Tony is a graduate of Purdue University.
