Did You Know?
For the 2008-09 school year:
- 90.5 tons of recyclables were saved from going to landfills
- AU Creative Dining Services began purchasing local, organic produce from Taylor Family Farms
- A water-purification system was added to the Raven's Haven to cut down on the amount of bottled water sold
- Re-usable bags were given to students for use/re-sale at the Campus Bookstore
- 95% of disposables at all dining locations are sustainable biodegradable
Mission Statement
To promote the benefits of recycling, resource conservation and opportunities for campus and community involvement, while diverting recyclables from the waste system.
Purpose Statement
- To be good stewards of God’s creation
- To coordinate campus efforts at recycling
- To raise awareness of the benefits of recycling
- To teach the three R’s – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
- To be a resource for new recycling information to be relayed to the campus community
- To assess the success of the program
