Metal Processing
The metal that is collected is stored in a building until there is enough for processing.
Under some market conditions the metal is sorted by hand to separate the aluminum cans from the tin (actually tin coated steel) cans, and then taken to Phillips Metal in Anderson for recycling.
At other times the metal is taken to the Best Way transfer station without sorting, just like plastic and glass. Anderson University does not have equipment to sort and package the various kinds of metal efficiently, so under a depressed market we cannot afford the cost of sorting.
