Graduation Procedures

All undergraduate students are requested to file a graduation application with the Office of the University Registrar at the end of the Junior year. Please review the application (mailed to you during the second semester of your junior year) and degree audit on AccessAU for the following information:

Be sure your name as shown on your academic record is correct as printed. The name on your diploma should match your official University academic records on file in AU Registrar's Office.

Check the date and year you expect to complete your degree requirements, (i.e. December 2008 or May 2009). It is imperative that you meet the deadlines indicated below:

December 2008 Graduates

If you are completing your degree requirements in December 2008, you must complete the application and return it to the University Registrar's Office by May 1, 2008.

May 2009 Graduates

If you are planning to complete degree requirements in May 2009, complete the application and return it to the University Registrar's Office on or before September 15, 2008.

August 2009 Graduates

If you are planning to complete degree requirements in August (Summer) 2009, complete the application and return it to the University Registrar's Office on or before October 1, 2008.

If you fail to apply by the above stated deadlines, you will be subject to delaying your graduation. Also, if you do not complete your degree requirements during the semester you indicated on your degree application, you must reapply during the semester in which you anticipate graduating.

It is very important for you to check carefully the degree information on your degree audit form. If your degree/major information is incorrect, you must contact the Office of the University Registrar and have your degree objective changed BEFORE your graduation application.

Summer graduates must confirm with the University Registrar the address to which their diploma is to be mailed.

Sign and date the application. Your signature along with an advisor's signature must appear on the graduation application form before it is submitted to the Office of the Registrar.

December 2008/May 2009 Commencement

May Commencement exercises will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009. Information regarding May Commencement will be mailed in mid-March to students completing degree requirements.

Summer 2009 Graduation

Students who complete their degree requirements in Summer 2009 will be invited to attend the May ceremony. There is no separate commencement ceremony for summer graduates.
