The Rev. Orvas J. Adams and his wife celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, at a party given by their three children, Karvin, Arlene, and Patricia at Liberty Grove Church of God. “It was a great day, long to be remembered.”
The Rev. Gladys (Armstrong) Cagle and Ray Cagle are managing a mini-storage and ministering to many who have no church. “When God opens the door, we walk through to show them God’s love and care.”

Bill Gaither BA, DM ’73 and Gloria Gaither BS ’63, LHD ’89 were honored as the 2008 Sachem Lifetime Achievement Award recipients. The Sachem Award is presented each year by the governor of Indiana to honor a Hoosier for a lifetime of excellence and virtue that has brought credit and honor to Indiana. The award was presented April 2. Those participating in the ceremony were Governor Mitch Daniels, the Rev. David Markle BA ’75, MDiv ’81, Sandi Patty BA ’79, DMin ’91, Anderson University President James Edwards BA ’65, MDiv ’70, and Larnelle Harris.

Dennis Cox BA retired from teaching 12 years ago after teaching 27 years. He owns his own piano tuning repair business now and says he loves “RV-ing” with his wife.

Terry L. Neal BA signed a contract with Publish America for his second children’s adventure story, The Find It Club and the Prankster. The story is about a middle school boy named Christopher who gets moved to a new school in a new city because his dad gets a new job. Christopher immediately runs into the school bully. The story is full of adventure and life-changing experiences. Terry is hoping that the book will be available online by October of this year. The Find It Club and the Prankster is dedicated to Rodney Tostenson BA ’83 and Marilyn Tostenson, who died of cancer in April 2008. Terry had a book signing at Pratt, Whitney, Rocketdyne on Take Your Child to Work Day. He reported that he sold out of all his books. Numerous children reported that they loved his first book, The Find It Club. Some of the children said that they were starting their own Find It Clubs. The Find It Club is available from PublishAmerica.com, Amazon.com, Target.com, and B&N.com.

Steven Horner BA, MDiv ’85 is a chaplain with Hope Hospice and Community Services in Fort Myers. His wife, Charlotte, is the new resident care director at The Lakes, an assisted-living facility in Fort Myers.

Brian D. Osswald BA, MBA ’98 was recently promoted to sales director for New Therapies at Maquet Cardiovascular. His wife, Susi, is a teacher and volunteers in several organizations. Their sons, Tyler, 12, and Conner, 9, are active in football, basketball, and lacrosse.

Tammy (Bentley) Fahey BA is working part time as the office manager of TNT Taxes in Jupiter, Fla. “After having children, we realized my staying home would be the most rewarding thing for the children and mommy. Over the years, my degree in social work has been invaluable to me. It has given me a strong ability to communicate, and the minor in marriage and family relations has been utilized every single day! Recently, it has occurred to me that administrative abilities were definitely included in my giftedness, which is why being office manager appeals to me. And working with people and taxes utilizes my communication skills daily. Who knew taxes were such an emotional experience? Finally, our oldest daughter, Ashley, has been accepted to Anderson University in the fall. We are very proud and excited for her as she embarks on this new journey from Florida to Anderson. Winter will definitely be a challenge for her. My husband, Kerry, is self-employed in the construction industry.”

Jane (Allwood) Adkins welcomed Alexander James and Elizabeth Anne into their family. “Big brothers Ethan (5) and Noah (2) are enjoying the twins so much!”
Cathy (Robinson) Andrews MA moved with her family to North Carolina from Florida two years ago. She is teaching seventh-grade language arts and attending graduate school to pursue her MSA. Her husband, who retired from the practice of law, owns Century 21 Scenic Realty in Young Harris, Ga. Cathy will be participating in the three-day, 60-mile walk for the Susan Komen for the Cure Oct. 24-26, 2008, in Atlanta. She will walk in memory of all her beloved friends and family who have died of cancer.

Mark Lund BA recently narrated the documentary series Bounty Hunters, featured on the National Geographic Channel. He was also the demo voice on computers last Christmas at Best Buy stores promoting Microsoft Vista. Mark has recently been heard in TV commercials for Steak n Shake, among many others. He continues to enjoy his work as the design director for Taproot Theatre Company in Seattle. Mark is happily married to Karen and is the proud dad of super kids Jake, 11, and Hannah, 8. Twyla (Blumenberg) Salaiz BA ’04 just completed her Master of Educational Psychology. She lives in Tucson, Ariz., working in learning and development within the aerospace industry.

Robert Ryan BA is a professional artist, photographer, and mural painter in Fishers, Ind. He recently won first place in the mural art contest conducted by the Hotel Indigo in Fishers and the Fishers Art Council. The digital photo that he entered into the contest will be enlarged to mural size and placed on the north side of the hotel. Robert, who is married with three children, just finished painting a mural on the building at Higher Grounds coffee shop in Geist. He also has won other local competitions for his art, including the Hoosier Salon and the Indiana State Fair. His work will be shown in an exhibition at the Carmel Clay Public Library in May as well as Art in the Park in Fishers later this year.

Pam (Roeder) Alfieri BA and Tim Alfieri BA ’86 are pleased to announce that after spending three months in the Ukraine, two new additions have been added to their family. Iryna, 10, and Nicholas, 10, were welcomed by sister Brittany, 16, and brother Anthony, 14. Upon coming back from the Ukraine, Tim took a position with Hillyard, Inc., which relocated the family to the Atlanta area in May. Pam continues working in the accounting field and will fly back and forth to Indianapolis twice a month to service accounts.
Grant Butler BA, MDiv ’99 and Robin (Loudermilk) Butler BA ’93 live in northwest Indiana. Grant has attained the distinction of board-certified chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains. The APC is a national, multi-faith organization based in Schaumburg, Ill., established to certify and serve its membership and to promote professional chaplaincy. Professional chaplains work throughout the country in many specialized settings, including health care, corporations, correctional facilities, and the military. Grant presently serves as chaplain for a leading national hospice provider in the Chicago metro area. He and Robin are proud parents of two wonderful daughters, Bonnie and Carlie, ages 6 and 4.

Brian Osborne BA completed his MBA from Franklin University in May 2008. He work as a business analyst for Worthington Cylinders and also continues to serve as the associate pastor at Harvest Assembly of God in Galloway, where he oversees the music ministry.
Sue (Fields) Sandlin had her first daughter, Emori Riane, on Dec. 26, 2007. She and her husband, Bill, have been in Texas for four years, both working at JCPenney headquarters. They would love to hear from old friends at sandlin71@yahoo.com.

Dean Abbott BA and wife Rebecca welcomed home a daughter, Daisy Lee, on Nov. 21, 2006. The family lives in Georgetown, Ky., where Dean is a visiting professor of communication at Georgetown College. He has recently been accepted into the PhD communication program at the University of Kentucky and plans to begin in fall 2008. Scott Willard Strawn BA was recently appointed the new vice president for student development and dean of students at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Okla. He and his family moved to Oklahoma in June.

Jeff Taylor BA recently accepted the position for vice president of Aegis Therapies, the largest contract physical therapy company in the country with more than 6,000 physical therapists. He writes, “God has blessed my family with a wonderful wife and three healthy, wonderful boys.”

Monica (Maksymovitch) Schaeffer BA and her husband, Craig, welcomed a baby girl, Juliet Alexandra last July. “She has a loving big brother, Jack, who is 2 ½. We are living in West Lafayette, about one block from Ross-Ade Stadium at Purdue University. It is such a blessing to be able to stay home with my children.”

Jena (Bowser) Rutan had her first child, Yosef Rumble, on March 22, 2008 at 10:13 p.m. after 20 hours of labor. He weighed 8 lbs., 1 oz. and was 21 inches long. Jena had an all-natural birth with no medications and no episiotomy. Yosef is Hebrew and means "God Shall Add" or "The Lord Increases" and Rumble is a maternal family surname.
