David Neidert BA ’77, MA ’87, director of the Center for Christian Leadership (CCL) at Anderson University, was awarded the Wilbur M. McFeely Award by the International Management Council (IMC) in recognition for his national contributions in leadership and management development. Neidert finds himself in prestigious company, as past recipients have included Lee Iacocca, Norman Vincent Peale and Robert Greenleaf.

At the award luncheon on June 19, Neidert was presented a plaque and asked to give the keynote address; he chose for his topic “Healthy Leadership.” A member of the IMC for 16 years, Neidert served on various committees for the organization, and was its national president in 1994. The IMC focuses on leadership and human development, and is a program of the YMCA. Neidert’s interest in these areas led him to author a book and numerous articles on the topic that have garnered national attention with the National Association of Auxiliary Services and the National Association for Community Leadership.

Neidert’s role with the CCL at AU is expanding. Just recently the center has taken on new leadership with Hispanic ministries, and is working to have a presence in Latin America. Neidert and AU business professor Becky Haskett have been collaborating on a book project focusing on emotional intelligence and personal awareness in leadership. Neidert also has two other manuscripts underway, one in the area of spiritual leadership and how to understand the model of shepherding, and the other dealing with the maturing of faith journeys.
