Remembering our friends
The Rev. Dennis Mitchell BA ¹56, MDiv ¹61 died May 31, 2004. He served in the ministry for more than 45 years, including pastorates in Virginia, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania. He served at the local, state, and national leadership levels in the Church of God. He and his wife, Etta (Grantland) Mitchell BS ¹60, served as interim pastors in Japan after their retirement. Dennis and Etta were married 48 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Marlon Mitchell, Zonia Mitchell BA ¹86, and Keri Mitchell, and two grandsons. Emmett J. McClure BA ¹82 and his wife, Louise, died July 16, 2004, from injuries in a motorcycle-car accident in Fort Wayne, Ind. Emmett worked at General Motors in Fort Wayne. The couple loved riding motorcycles and traveling, and had visited 48 states and Canada in the past two years. Emmett is survived by his parents, the Rev. Lawrence BTh ¹52 and Della (Taylor) ¹47 McClure; four children, Emmett J. McClure Jr., Dee McClure, Tony McClure and Farrah Hendrickson; a sister, Janet Golden of Missouri; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Vickie (Maddox) Moe BA ¹89 died July 21, 2004. She lived in Cochran, Ga., and was employed by the Heart of Georgia RESA. She was an educator, mother, and homemaker. She was team captain for Bleckley County Relay of Life and a member of Dublin First Church of the Nazarene. She earned her master¹s degree in 1993 from Valdosta University. Survivors include her husband, Scott Moe BA ¹88; three young children, Zack, Kiley, and Macy Moe; her parents, Larry BA ¹66 and Joan (Luce) BA ¹81 Maddox; a sister, Karla (Maddox) Sempsrott BA ¹91; her maternal grandmother, Opal Luce; and four nieces and a nephew. The Rev. James H. Fearnow BA ¹76, MDiv ¹84 of Killeen, Texas, died Aug. 15,
