Barbara (Clausen) Theodore BA and Lee C. Theodore BA went on a month-long visit to Greece and Ephesus, Turkey. Lee’s parents were born in Turkey and spoke Greek. The couple visited the Church of God in Athens, the Greek Bible Institute, Helping Hands, the Greek Evangelical Church, and several missionary friends. They also visited Lee’s relatives in the northern villages, took a five-day cruise to the Greek Isles, and then returned to Athens to see sights such as Mars Hill and the Acropolis.

Marty (Cox) Brallier BS took the leading role in the play “The Story of Edith Easter,” put on at the First Church of the Nazarene in Frankfort, Ind. Although she’s legally blind and hasn’t been in a play since college, Marty memorized her many lines for the play after the font was enlarged five times so she could read it. Directing the play was Marty’s daughter, Susan (Brallier) Kaspar BA ’77.

Peter Chionos BA has been a teacher for 34 years and is currently teaching for Gary Community School Corporation in Gary, Ind. His stepdaughter entered Anderson University this fall.

Fred Pieper BA recently returned to Grand Cayman for a two-week vacation. He first visited the island with a Tri-S group in January 1989. He spent much of his recent trip reminiscing about his Tri-S travels, and he notes that the church where the students stayed is still standing. However, damage still remains on the island from Hurricane Ivan, which hit in September 2004.

Beth (Hagg) Walker writes that her family had a special celebration when her daughter, Karissa (Walker) Blackford BA ’06 graduated from AU along with her husband, Terry Blackford BA ’06. Neil Walker BA, Beth’s husband and Karissa’s father, graduated from AU 25 years ago, and Dorothy (Spangler) Walker BS ’56, Karissa’s grandmother, graduated from AU 50 years ago.

Dan Hypes BA was recently named the CEO of LifePlan Financial Group, Inc, an independent advisory firm which he co-founded in Dayton, Ohio, in 1989. He has been in the financial services industry for more than 20 years. He and his wife, Angie, live in Bellbrook, Ohio, and are the proud parents of one daughter, Caroline, and two sons, Nate and Josh.

Christine Schaub BA just released The Longing Season, the second novel in the Music of the Heart series and the story behind the song “Amazing Grace.” Her first novel, Finding Anna, is the story behind “It is Well.” It has a Dutch translation and has been critically acclaimed. Kevin Spear BA recently wrote and illustrated a book for Warner Press titled What’s a Bathtub Doing in My Church? Fifteen Questions Kids Ask about Baptism, Salvation, and Snorkels. Amy Arnold BA lives in Los Angeles and is working as a hospice chaplain. She also does pulpit supply for local churches, is taking an acting class, and works for a celebrity dog walking company.
Molly (Bennett) Barnhart BA and her husband, Michael, celebrated the birth of their first child, Jacob Michael, on June 8. “He is such a blessing and truly a gift from God,” Molly writes. She is enjoying taking time off to be a stay-at-home mom. Friends can reach the couple at fparkmb@bright.net.

Jenny (Yoder) Altstaetter and her husband, Dean, announce the birth of their third child, Isabella Grace, on Feb. 22. “She looks just like her daddy!” Jenny writes. “Her sister, Annaleia, and brother, Aaron, are completely smitten with her! Once again we are in awe of God’s goodness and his ever-present hand on our lives.” Jenny is staying home with their children and Dean is teaching at Ohio Northern University while also working on his second master’s. Shana Collines BSN received her Master of Science in nursing as a family nurse practitioner in May from Indiana Wesleyan.
Angela Helvey BA married Jose Fernandez on Jan. 7 at Park Place Church of God. Angela resigned from her teaching and coaching positions in Fishers, Ind., so that she and Jose could move to Sendai, Japan.
Sarah (Patrick) Van Drunen BA and Mark Van Drunen BA moved from San Diego to Hudson, Ohio. “We are very excited that God has brought us back to the Midwest where we will be closer to family,” Sarah writes. Mark is working at the First Merit Bank in Akron as the vice president of Client Private Services. Sarah is excited to be raising their daughters in her hometown. Amanda (Nevins) Day and her husband, Ryan, welcomed their third child, Chloe Elizabeth, born Aug. 15, 2005. Chloe has two older brothers: Charlie, 4, and Tucker, 2. Amanda writes, “We continue to live in Georgia and are enjoying the warm weather.” Amanda works at HomeBanc Mortgage as a Builder Account Manager, and Ryan is a corporate helicopter pilot as well as a project manager for a team of homebuilders.

Benjamin Newcomer BA married Sara-Louise Roberts in Dade City, Fla., on May 19, 2006. They currently live in Central California but hope to continue their work with the Christian Veterinary Mission in the Central African Republic where Benjamin worked previously.
Tim Ponce BA, Jennifer Ponce BSN, and their children, David and Nora, have relocated to Doha, Qatar. Tim continues to work for the U.S. Department of State and is the consular chief at the U.S. Embassy.

Brian Adams BA married Stacey Scharlach on April 29 in Fort Wayne, Ind. Brian graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 2004 and is currently in his third year of family practice in Fort Wayne. He will join Brooklyn Medical Associates upon completion. His wife, Stacey, is a labor and delivery nurse at Parkview Hospital.

Nicole (Saellichi) Hartley BA is working in the Crisis Unit at the Cabarruss County Department of Social Services in Kannapolis, N.C. She’s married and has a dog, who she says acts just like a child. Leslie Jean Carpenter BA married Matthew Spencer Holmes on Jan. 7, 2006. Alumni in the wedding included Erin (Moss) Taylor BA ’04. The couple met while attending seminary together at the Church of God Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Tenn. Matthew graduated in June, and Leslie hopes to graduate in January 2007. Matthew also remodels homes, and Leslie is a Premier Designs Independent Jewelry consultant, a nanny, and an ABA therapist for autistic children.
Ruth Hawkins BA has been working for Teleunique Arts for the past two years and has been in management there for one year. The organization works with around 20 different arts organizations across the country, including theatres, opera companies, and symphonies. “I am living in Indianapolis and am having a blast,” she writes. Gina (Knoblock) Johnson BA graduated from Bradley University with her master’s in human development counseling. She married Brian Johnson on May 27, 2006, and she now has a 12-year-old stepdaughter, Emily. Andrew Pertler BA has been working for the Youth Opportunity Center for almost a year, and he writes that the job is wonderful. He works with at-risk children and is currently looking for a teaching job. 1956 -- James Sharp BA ’52, MDiv and his wife, Dorothy (Hardin) Sharp BS ’54 are in Kampala, Uganda, through Dec. 9, 2006, doing a special assignment missionary appointment to replace Joel BA ’83 and Cornelia (Barnette) BA ’63 Kerich while they are on home assignment in the United States. The Sharps will be assisting the nursing staff, giving spiritual council to clinic staff and patients, and assisting Ugandan Church of God pastors.
