Maxine (Heater) Crawford lives in Hayden, Idaho. She married in 1940 and raised two sons. After teaching high school math for nearly 29 years, she took early retirement to care for her husband, who had been diagnosed with cancer. "Even though I'm 87, I still golf 18 holes and have a 38 handicap," Maxine writes. "God has been so good to me. Everyone here tells me what an inspiration I am."

Ella Cleveland Goodbread BS enjoys life on her Montana ranch. This winter she traveled by motor home to Florida. Her daughter has blessed her with 7-year-old twin grandsons. Ella still enjoys singing as time and opportunity permit.

Bill Ameredes BS and his wife, Mary, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 2. They were married in All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton, W.V., Sept. 2, 1951. During his career in education, Bill was a teacher, assistant principal, guidance counselor, and football, basketball and track coach. He retired in 1996. Bill and Mary have two sons - Bill and Timothy - and four granddaughters. Bill and Mary live near Akron in Monroe Falls, Ohio.

Lillian Kitchen Black completed seven years as a volunteer for JAARS Inc. in Waxhaw, N.C. "We assist Wycliffe Bible translators in translating the Bible," she explains. "Our goal is to begin translations for the remaining 3,000 languages by 2025."

Janet Keating Fout BA, along with two of her co-workers, received a Leadership for a Changing World award from the Ford Foundation for outstanding grassroots leadership for the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition (OVEC) in Huntington, W.V. Janet has been project coordinator for OVEC since 1992 and is working to ban mountaintop removal strip mining of coal. "Our work is all about protecting God's beautiful creation and people in Appalachia who have been marginalized by powerful interests," she explains.

James "Steve" Allen is a building commissioner in Hillsboro, Mo. He and his wife, Margie, have 11 children. He attends First Baptist Church, where he is a Sunday School teacher and has served as an alderman.
Phil Dukes BA attends United Theological Seminary in Dayton. "I am a confirmed candidate for elder in the West Virginia Conference of UMC. I am currently an appointed associate pastor in preparation for commissioning in 2003," he writes.
Charles Wako BA is the deputy director of the Association of African Airlines, an international organization based in Nairobi that brings together all 36 African airlines. "My department is responsible for the harmonization and coordination of both the tariff and schedules among the airlines for the whole continent," explains Charles. "I am also the consultant for all world airlines wishing to operate to any point on the African continent in the establishment of the International Air Transport Association fare."

Deborah (Turner) Condon BA worked for Burlington Motor Carriers for 17 1/2 years. She is now the division human resources/safety manager for the textile manufacturer WestPoint Stevens in the Basic Bedding Division. She is responsible for five plants located in Indiana, Nevada, Georgia, Louisiana and Alabama. "Along with these responsibilities, I am still very active with the Anderson [Indiana] Firefighters Auxiliary, serving as president, and am past president of the Indiana Firefighters Association Auxiliary," she writes. "I am also an independent Longaberger® sales consultant."

an Bentley BA has taught missionary kids for 17 years. "For 15 of those years, I served in Indonesia as a teacher and administrator of a small international school for missionary children and ex-patriates with OMS International," Jan writes. During that time, she received a master's degree in literacy from Michigan State University, and she recently earned another master's degree in educational administration from Columbia International University in South Carolina. In August Jan joined the mission organization Pioneers, and she will move to Chiang Mai, Thailand, in May to establish a resource center for families and serve as the center's consultant.
Donald Keith Preston BA was promoted to retail sales manager for all four locations of First Security Bank of Lexington. He is also the play-by-play radio announcer for the Lexington Christian Academy Eagles. Keith and Ann, his wife of 15 years, have three sons - Matthew, 12; Daniel, 8; and Andrew, 5. Sonia Oliveros Holcombe lives in Fort Worth, Texas, with her husband, Sean, and two children - Nadia, 4, and Noland, 1. Sonia had been an account manager for Proctor and Gamble, but she has since earned a master's degree in education and now teaches fourth grade. "I love it," she says of her new career. Sean is a music teacher. In August, her sister-in-law, Mary Sue Craig Oliveros BA '86 (wife of Marcel Oliveros BA '87) died. Erin (Moore) Socha BA works as an adoption consultant for International Family Services of Ohio. "This summer we brought home our second son, Paul, from Viet Nam," she writes. "Adopting our two boys and walking through the adoption journey with other families has been the greatest joy of my life. Their first child, Jade Reuben, was born Sept. 17, 2001. They live in Lexington, Ky., where Melanie is a post-doc at the University of Kentucky, and Yarrow works as an auto mechanic in a privately owned shop. He still plays bass at church and occasionally for people they know.

Aaron Rosen BA and his wife, Amy, have a son, Cole Ryan, who will be 2 in June. Amy is a nurse at Parkview in Fort Wayne, Ind. Aaron teaches sixth grade in Silver Lake, Ind. They live in a new house east of Urbana, Ind.
Shelley (McMillian) Rydzinski and Brian Rydzinski moved to Sarasota, Fla., and "are loving it," Shelley writes. "Our two [miniature pinschers], Alli and Gator, and cat, Gracie, are doing great." Brian is the manager of Ralph Lauren, and Shelley manages a Pacific Sunwear. "Brian still loves running, and I still don't," she adds.
After graduation Kim Walimire BA spent a year in Funehiki, Japan, teaching English. She now lives in Visalia, Calif., and teaches choir, band and general music to elementary and middle school students.

Amanda Hicks BA is pursuing a master's degree in Old Testament at Talbot School of Theology at Biola University. She lives in La Mirada, Calif.
Angie Landis BA married Joel Brown Aug. 4, 2001, in Wabash, Ind. Alumni in the wedding party included John Brutchen BA '98, Melissa (Hemphill) Brutchen BA '99, Kate Fischer BA '98, Elizabeth McDonald '01 and Lenny Sanchez BA. AU student Merille Garner and AU secretary Linda Gilman served cake at the reception.
Heather Terhune BS is a registered nurse in the emergency room at Duke University Hospital and the first female volunteer firefighter for the Mebane Fire Department, established in 1922.
Tara Walters BA is completing an MBA at Regent University. She plans to move to Raleigh, N.C., in June.
Karen Wilkins BA married Timothy Daugherty Oct. 14, 2000. Karen is a claims representative for the Social Security Administration. She lives in Muncie, Ind.

Theodore Simmons BA '78, MA '85, MDiv '88 completed his Ph.D. in organizational behavior during the summer of 2001. He is the director for organizational development for General Cable Corporation, a worldwide manufacturing company, and he serves as adjunct faculty for two graduate programs in the Cincinnati area.
Josh Wright BA '98, MTS '01 married Elizabeth Tull June 2, 2001, at Irvington United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. Dr. Timothy Dwyer, SOT professor, assisted in the ceremony. Groomsmen included Christopher Ludden BA '99.
