Reconnect with Anderson University
By Dienzel Dennis BS '61, Alumni Council President
As I was reading the other day about the “Pearl of Great Price,” I thought about some less important, but still some other real “jewels” in my life. Next to family and church came Anderson University. My godly parents were the most influential in my early childhood and the formative years. However, Anderson University helped shape my young adult life more than any other thing. The four years I spent on campus paved the way for the manner in which I have dealt with the issues of life during the last 45 years. Has it really been that long?
A lot of great memories came flooding back when I returned to campus eight years ago to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and continued with my involvement with the Alumni Council. I think the same thing would happen to all of you if you also became involved. We can recapture the golden threads of life and reconnect to that “perfect past.”
My greatest desire, and my stated goal during my term as president of the Alumni Council, is to reach out, welcome in, and initiate the involvement of as many AU graduates as possible in the Alumni Association. Once this happens, our other goals will be accomplished because of our care and commitment to this institution. We will help recruit high school students; we will help mentor current students; we will help place graduates into the workforce; we will pray for the students, faculty, and administration; and finally, we will support the university with our finances. We always work harder and better for something for which we have strong feelings. An unintended by-product of this effort will be the priceless relationships we rekindle with our “ole” classmates and the new friends we make. So, get involved with the AU Alumni Association! It will be one of the most important decisions you ever make. The students will benefit, the university will prosper, your life will be enhanced, and God will be blessed. We will be looking forward to hearing from you and also to seeing you around campus during the next 12 months.
