Walt Carter BS retired from teaching in 1994. He taught in public schools for 35 years. “Since then, I have spent a great deal of time traveling with my wife, Ruth (Halliburton) Carter ’58, spoiling our grandchildren, preparing meals for the Wednesday night gathering at our church, and serving as an adjunct faculty member at Ivy Tech State College.” Walt and Ruth live in Anderson, Ind.

Douglas Vermillion BA retired from Anderson (Ind.) Community Schools in June 2003. He taught high school social studies for 30 years. He now works part time and researches his family history. He hopes to write a book spanning his family’s colonial American experience through the current era.

Charles Cookston BA ran the software company Advacate Inc. for 20 years. He closed the doors to the business in 2001 and now works as a freelance software architect. Charles and his wife, Janet, are active in their church’s music worship program, and Charles is the temporary youth director. They live in Indianapolis.

Mark DeFelice BA and Sherrie (Bower) DeFelice BA ’78 continue their ministry in Italy planting churches and teaching from the Bible. After living in Pittsburgh for 20 years, Diane (Forsman) Hunter and her husband, Ross, moved to Michigan with their three teenagers. Rick Kress BA is a bi-vocational pastor. He planted Providence Community Church in suburban Detroit in September 2002 and continues to pastor the congregation. The church is affiliated with the Church of God. He also serves as an executive consultant to non-profit organizations. Rick writes, “I’m one of 61 people in the world with the Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive status, the development’s top credential.”

Debba (Blevins) Haupert BA received Plaid Enterprises’ 2004 Horizon Award, a $3,000 professional development grant that the company established exclusively for members of the Society of Craft Designers. Entries are judged based on the candidate’s vision for professional growth and how the Horizon grant can help accomplish this goal. The annual recipient also demonstrates mentoring, sharing, and support characteristics consistent with SCD’s mission. Debba also has a new title on the market. The New Book of Image Transfer was published in May by Lark Books and is available through Amazon.com. In February, Toner Plastics launched new tools and craft kits designed by Debba. Her husband, Rob, attained full professorship in anatomy and physiology at Jefferson Comm-unity College in Louisville, Ky. They have two children — Drew, 12, and Leah, 9. Diane (Hackney) Meiser AS returned home to Bedford, Ind., after being away for 20 years. She works in the operating room at Bloomington Hospital. She hopes to earn a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration and then pursue a master’s degree. Her husband is working at Indiana University and going to school. Her daughter is in second grade. Her oldest stepson married last year. She also has a stepson in college at Mt. Vernon Nazarene and a stepdaughter going to IU in the fall. Craig Caldwell BA completed his PhD from Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. He joined the faculty at Butler University’s College of Business Administration. His wife, Diana, is a marketing manager at Eli Lilly and serves on the Marketing Advisory Board of the Falls School of Business at AU.

Cory Edwards BA is hosting a new show on ESPN 2, K-9 Nation, where average dogs and their owners train to become superdogs and win big money. Cory recently completed his first stand-up comedy concert video, available on VHS and DVD through his Web site. He has been directing his first feature film, Hoodwinked!, which he wrote and co-directed with his brother, Todd Edwards BA ’94, and produced with Preston Stutzman BA ’92. Planned release is sometime next year. Cory and his wife, Vicki, celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in April.

In addition to being the choral director, she is also the drama director at the high school and the girls’ soccer coach at the middle school. Deborah (Owens) Sitnikoff BA teaches the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade bands at McFadden School of Excellence and Rockvale Elementary in Rutherford County, Tenn. Her sons, Boris and Vlad, are in elementary school. She still teaches clarinet and performs in the Nashville area, including in the Nashville Community Band.

Janette (Hostetler) Brown BA and her husband, Matt, announce the birth of Millicent Christine on Jan. 23, 2004. “Quinn, Clara, and Zane are all delighted with their baby sister,” Janette writes. “We are adjusting to life in the Twin Cities, where Matt took a job with GMAC in September of last year. I am staying home with the kids. We attend Wooddale Church and I am active in Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS).”
Jeff Taylor BA and his wife, Myra, moved from Michigan back to their hometown of LaPorte, Ind. Jeff is the director of marketing for Integrated Orthopedics. Myra is a stay-at-home-mom for their two sons.
Aaron Housholder BA and Suahil (Scott) Housholder BA ’98 moved from the Cayman Islands to Anderson, Ind., and purchased their first home. Aaron will begin work on a PhD in literature at Ball State University in the fall.
Chip Lewis BA and his wife, Heather, are moving to Louisville, Ky. Heather will begin her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Louisville. Kim Cart BA is the director of marketing services for Brainstorm, a branding and graphic design firm in Indianapolis. She handles the company’s lead generation activities and new business development.
Amanda (Nevins) Day and her husband, Ryan, announce the birth of their second son, Tucker Michael, on July 8, 2003. Amanda writes, “Our 2-year-old son, Charlie, was very excited, and so were we.” Eight weeks after Tucker’s birth, the family moved to Atlanta, where Ryan could pursue his dream of flying. He completed his classes in March and now holds a commercial helicopter license. Amanda works full time with HomeBanc Mortgage Corporation supporting three of the vice presidents in the corporate offices.

Rebecca Fuller BA completed a Master of Public Affairs degree in public management from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs in May. She manages the communication and marketing department of the American Red Cross Blood Services, Indiana-Ohio Region.
Bill Grieco MBA accepted a staff accountant position with the U.S. Army’s V-Corp in Heidelberg, Germany.
Erin Lentz BA received a degree in massage therapy and spent two years working in that field. She is now a treatment coordinator for the West Virginia Youth Advocate Program and is pursing a call to foreign missions through her church. “God is preparing me for my true calling of evangelism through unbelievable opportunities,” she writes. Carrie Nasset BA has worked with World Advocates in Mauritania for more than a year. She helps run a feeding center for children who beg on the street and hopes to begin teaching them through art.

Katherine Paschal BA married Michael Kramer on Dec. 27, 2003. “It was a fun time of year to celebrate our marriage,” Katherine writes. Michael is studying for dental school.”
Kami (Hines) Propst BA and Patrick Propst BA ’00 celebrated the birth of their daughter, Jada Flory, on Jan. 30, 2004. Kami and Patrick have moved back to central Indiana to serve in ministry in Noblesville.
Jeff Whye BA lives in Los Angeles where he is working as an actor, comedian, and voice artist. He writes, “I’m taking risks and living my dream. No one said it was going to be easy, but I’m happy!”

Aaron Harrell BA was accepted into the aviation program in the United States Marine Corps. He received commission as a 2nd Lieutenant on Jan. 31. In April he left Anderson to start training in Quantico, Va.
Tabitha Jacob BA married Brian Lyda on May 29, 2004, in Pittsburgh. Also in May, Tabitha received her master’s degree in secondary school guidance from California University in Pennsylvania.
Cheryl McDowell BA married Eric Stewart on March 13, 2004, in New Albany, Ind. Cheryl is a licensed investment representative with Bank One. Eric is a deputy with the Floyd County sheriff’s department. The couple enjoyed a two-week honeymoon in the Caribbean. They live in New Albany.

Megan Golden BA is the communications specialist for the American Cancer Society (ACS), Great Lakes Division. She will assist in the production of marketing materials, interface with the media, and assist staff with the development and implementation of comprehensive public relations and marketing strategies for local ACS initiatives and programs.

Samuel McDonough BA is working in Los Angeles as a freelance production assistant and camera assistant on music videos, commercials, and reality television. He has been enjoying the sun and warmth of southern California.
Rebecca Moses BA is the news editor for a daily newspaper in Culpeper, Va., with a circulation of 7,000. She enjoys her job. “I am in charge of page layout for the A section, but I also do some editing and writing,” she explains. “This has certainly been an experience for me. I never imagined that I would be second in charge at a paper right out of college!”
