Gloria (Thompson) Forester won an award reception with commercial artist Thomas Kinkade. Gloria, a Home Interiors and Gifts consultant, led the nation with 49 other recipients in sales of a new line of pieces featuring Kinkade’s work. Hal Reynolds BS and Judy (Black) Reynolds ’57 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June. They met as students at AU. They were married June 23, 1956, at Park Place Church of God by the Rev. William Eddy. They live in Anderson, Ind., and are the parents of Debbie S. (Reynolds) Peirce BA ’80 and Sally J. (Reynolds) Ferguson BA ’85. They have two grandchildren, Nate and Anna Ferguson.

Johanna (Albrecht) Klinger and her husband, Scott, have been married for 34 years. They have 11 grandchildren and are about to become great-grandparents. Johanna writes, “Most of my married life has been spent being a homemaker. I don’t regret one moment of the time I have spent with my family, loving and serving them. Hopefully I also have served God in the capacity of wife and mother.”

Ernie Peterson BA returned to Mississippi in January to do final damage assessment from Hurricane Katrina for the Harrison County Property Appraiser’s Office. In February, he traveled to Torino, Italy, to work for the 2006 Winter Olympics. His assignment was in the Italian Alps where the downhill events were held. In March, he ran the game clock for the NCAA first- and second-round basketball games in Jacksonville, Fla.

Cheryl Johnson Barton BA and Bernie Barton BA, MDiv ’82 have been Church of God missionaries in Japan for 27 years. Cheryl is the author of Through a Glass Dimly, a 31-day devotional book recently published in an English-Japanese format by the largest Christian publisher in Japan, Word of Life Press. Sterling Evans BA, a history professor at Brandon University, has been named a Canada Research Chair in history. His research involves carrying out studies on agricultural dependencies and markets, environmental change, and conservation issues within the Plains region. The primary objective of the $900 million Canada Research Chairs Program, funded by the Canadian government, is to enable Canadian universities to achieve research excellence and to become world-class research centers in the global, knowledge-based economy.
Roark Jones and his wife, Pamela, have been married for 25 years. They have four children, ranging in age from 6 to 20. Roark has been the worship leader and member of the River Oaks Community church praise team/band since it began 15 years ago. He recently formed Jones Media Co., specializing in corporate branding; original radio/tv jingles; and digital video, print, Web site, and DVD development.

Brenda (Jacobs) Williams BA was named “Teacher of the Year” at Rockvale Elementary School in Rockvale, Tenn. She teaches general music to students in grades kindergarten through eight. She also directs two after-school chorus groups. Both groups attended a middle Tennessee regional choral festival this past school year and were both given “Superior” ratings for their performances.

James “Jay” Barnes BA has been named the director of media information for Union Pacific. He serves as the company’s spokesperson and is responsible for program development, management of media relations, and supporting integrated communications programs throughout the Union Pacific organization. The family has moved to Nebraska with James’ new job. His oldest daughter is a student at Oklahoma University, where she studies journalism and serves as the opinion columnist for the student-run The Oklahoma Daily. Lisa (Grimme) DeLeon BA writes, “Gene and I celebrated the birth of our son a little early. Jake was born four months premature and weighed only 13 ounces. He was as long as a dollar bill. We spent almost eight months in the NICU in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and we are now home! Jake now weights 15 pounds and is 23-inches long. We praise our Heavenly Father for his protection and guidance.”

Christopher Dibble BA is a full-time youth minister for junior and senior high students at New Hope Church in Greenwood, Ind. He also runs an aboveground pool company called AAA Pools in the summers. Patrick Nachtigall BA has written his first book titled Passport of Faith: A Christian’s Encounter with World Religions. It is a book on comparative religion in which Patrick travels to 10 different countries to explore the differences between other world religions and Christianity. Kim Brown BA married Michael Frazier BA on May 14, 2005, in a private ceremony in Mt. Airy Forest in Cincinnati, Ohio. Michael and Kim received friends and family at an open house reception on June 4, 2005, in their home in Price Hill. For the past several years, Michael has been in marketing and communications for Northern Kentucky University, while Kim has been the clinical director at Focus On Youth, an independent, not-for-profit therapeutic foster care agency. A mutual interest in the work of Frank Lloyd Wright has led Kim and Michael to visit 18 public Wright buildings in seven states.

Brenda Bryan BA and her husband, Paul Palmer, welcomed a daughter, Audrey Filomena Palmer, on Aug. 10, 2005. The family resides in Phoenix, where Brenda serves as director of member services and communications for the Arizona Grantmakers Forum and is currently working on her master’s in administration and health sciences. Paul is a self-employed editor and publisher for several local and national organizations. The family spends as much time as they can hiking and exploring the beautiful landscape of Arizona.

John Bayer BA completed a master’s degree in communication from Regent University in December 2005. In January, he began working at the Christian Broadcasting Network as the assistant director of the 700 Club. Also in January, John and his business partner formed Vertical Hold Productions. They completed shooting the pilot episode of their first television series Signs and Wonders. “Now begins the task of shopping the pilot around to find a network and investors,” writes John. Michael Bronnenberg BS writes, “Since graduation, I have accepted a management position with UPS, and I am on my second assignment since April 1, 2005. The Advance Program taught me many valuable lessons that I use daily at UPS to be an effective leader. UPS is a great company to work for, and they encourage their employees to further their education through tuition reimbursement and loan programs. Thanks to Doug Gambrall and his staff, I was able to finish my degree and put what I learned into action. Thank you all for the encouragement.”
Emily Brooks BA married David Coffey on Dec. 23, 2005. They live in Dallas, Texas, and have joined Wycliffe Bible Translators as missionaries. They are planning to serve long term in central Africa with Wycliffe.
Kandace (Businger) Johnson BSN and her husband, Michael, announce the birth of their son, Brayden Warren, on March 20, 2006. Kandace writes, “He resembles his brother, Noah, with definite glimpses of his daddy.” The family lives in Anderson, Ind., and Kandace is an ER staff nurse at Luthern Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Eric Oemler MBA accepted a transfer opportunity to join the Drug Enforcement Administration’s counter-terrorism unit.
Robbyn Perdue BA is working toward a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Texas in Austin. Her research focus is the development of electrochemical enzyme assays. As a proof of concept, she is using one such assay to screen drugs for victims exposed to anthrax. After graduation, she plans to search for a professorship.
Stephanie Riddle BA teaches fourth grade at John D. Floyd Elementary in Spring Hill, Fla. Stephanie writes, “My family and I miss Indiana, but we enjoy the warm, sunny climate of Florida. Our oldest daughter has found a home on the Springstead High Lady Eagles Varsity basketball team. Ryan is a third-grader at Floyd, and Bayley will begin kindergarten in August. Mallory turned 2 in May. I would love to hear from my former classmates and anyone from the AU family! I knew that attending AU was a blessing, but I realize it even more since graduation. Jennifer Ferguson BA is a graphic designer for the major league soccer team the New York Red Bulls (formerly the MetroStars). Jennifer writes that it is her dream job — “soccer plus art in the same profession.”
Scott Hamilton BA is working toward a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Indiana State University. He’ll receive his degree in the summer of 2007.
Aaron Heustis BA teaches first grade in Polk County, Fla. He is also working toward a mechanics certificate from MMI in Orlando. He writes, “When I am finished I will be a Yamaha- and Honda-certified technician. I will spend my summers off from teaching working with engines.”
Amber Jordan BA married Neil Higginbotham on July 30, 2005. She teaches kindergarten in Fayetteville, N.C.
Stephanie Negro MBA left General Motors to accept a position as a business analyst with Rolls Royce.
Lisa Paolone BA married Travis Taflinger BA ’04. She is a youth case manager at a community hospital in Kokomo, Ind.
Liss Scott BA, BSN is a registered nurse on a cardiac/telemetry floor. She is able to use her Spanish skills to translate for patients.
1977 - Joe Tira BA ’74, MA and Kay (Wixom) Tira BA ’75 moved from Kearney, Neb., to rainy Longview, Wash., where Joe is pastoring the First Church of God. Kay was laid-off from a buying position with Eaton Corporation after 12 years. She is doing some freelance writing and leading women’s ministries at the church.
1979 - Nehiel “Neal” Rojas MDiv writes, “My family and I visited Uruguay in February, almost 14 years after our departure. We were missionaries there from 1984-1992. God gave us the privilege of visiting three Church of God congregations and their pastors as well as the interdenominational, English-speaking church to which we provided pastoral services.”

1983 - Kerry Hird BA ’78, MRE began work as a pastor of The Church at Minges Hills in Battle Creek, Mich., in March 2005. His daughter, Kelsi, is a fourth-generation student at AU on her father’s side and third-generation on her mother’s side. Marsha (Stillings) Hird BA ’84 is seeking employment in the Battle Creek area.
1989 - Trent Freed BA ’85, MRE and Diane (Olsen) Freed BA ’87 welcomed an adopted son, Jared Sebastian, into their family on Oct. 10, 2005. He was born on May 25, 2005, in Guatemala. Trent writes, “He is a joy to Dad, Mom, and brother, Justin, 13!” Trent is in his fourth year as the minister of Christian education at Donica Church of God in Bedford, Ind. 1992 - Chad Short BA ’87, MDiv successfully defended his dissertation on multicultural churches to complete his Ph.D. program in intercultural studies in the E. Stanley Jones School of World Mission and Evangelism at Asbury Theological Seminary. Chad and Annette (Anderson) Short BA ’90 live in Wilmore, Ky., with their four children — Leah, 9; Caleb, 7; Alaina, 5; and Lydia, 3.
