T.M. Mitchell lives in a care facility in La Mesa, Calif. His wife, Thelma, died March 2, 2002, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. "She wasted away with the illness," T.M. writes. "Her going was a blessing." They were married 70 years.

Lew Dalessio BS and Jean Shrock Dalessio '53 are retired and dividing their time between Maine and Florida. In 2000, they developed a project to obtain, renovate and send wheelchairs to the poor of Costa Rica. More than 100 wheelchairs are sent annually. Wesley Abramson - see The College, 1962.

The National Museum of Grand Cayman purchased eight paintings by C. Robert Farlow BA. The series of oil paintings depicts the rigging of the Lydia E. Wilson, the last schooner built on Grand Cayman. Robert lived in Grand Cayman from the middle 1950s to early 1960s. He now lives in Indiana. He is known for his work as an art educator and for his landscapes, figurative paintings and sculptures. For 18 years he was a sculptor and figure designer for Briercroft Inc. His work can be seen at Eckert Fine Art Gallery in Indianapolis and on his Web site at www.robertfarlow.com.

J. Grant Bentley BA retired as the manager of the Social Security office in Austin, Minn., in 1988. He spent six years as shipping and receiving clerk for a Christian bookstore and five years at Northwest-ern Bookstores in Minneapolis. He served as an assistant pastor in several churches from 1969 to 1988. He lives near his grandchildren in Austin.

Betty Stubbs Holmes BS teaches at a juvenile detention center. She plans to retire this year. She lives in Oregon.

Caroline (Marsh) Abramson BA retired from the Garden Grove Unified School District. "For the last 18 years, I taught high school biology, mentored other science teachers and thoroughly enjoyed it all," Caroline writes. In 1995 she was named Biology Teacher of the Year in Orange County, Calif. Caroline and her husband, Wesley Abramson '55, plan to spend more time with their daughter and her family. Pat (Moland) Suitts writes, "Since retiring three years ago, I am substitute teaching, taking care of my five grandchildren, working in my daughter's bridal shop and getting together regularly with the 'girls from AC.'"

Bob Cahoon BA is the director of pastoral and overnight guest services of Restoration House, part of Forty Wayne (Ind.) Rescue Mission Ministries. "Due to my work with the homeless in Fort Wayne, I have been the first person in the 99-year history of the mission to have something named after them," Bob writes. The Rev. Robert William Cahoon Jr. Chapel was dedicated July 25. "As I have written before, I have cancer, which seems to have stopped growing but is very much present."

Connie Foster Shank BA received the Lucille Ford Award for Outstanding Contributions to Economic Education in Ohio. She is an economic coordinator for the Center for Economic Education at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio. Shank implemented an Economic and Financial Literacy Project for third-grade classrooms, using popular children's books such as Alexander Who Used to be Rich Last Sunday and A Busy day at Mr. Kang's Grocery Store. Shank also serves as the Career Development Coordinator for the Miami Valley Career Technology Center in Clayton, Ohio, where she sponsored eight economic workshops during the school year.

Dave Kendrick BA is the director of fixed-wing training for Raytheon Aviation Services, United States Army Kwajalean Atoll, Republic of the Marshall Islands, where they are in the final stages of completely cross training their helicopter pilots to fly airplanes and their airplane pilots to fly helicopters. Dave and his wife, Lora, have two adopted children - Joshua, 10, and Angela, 6. They became American citizens on July 30. "Both of our children will always have their island heritage, but now it will be easier to move around with them as Americans," Dave writes.

Charles Wako BA worked as a pricing manager for the development of a pricing policy of Kenya Airways until his promotion in 1987 to deputy director for African Airlines Association (AFRAA). His job enjoys diplomatic status. He is responsible for coordinating the pricing policy of all African airlines. "This means I am constantly on the move, visiting African airlines head offices and addressing pricing issues and articulating the position of collective African airlines to the rest of the world airlines," Charles writes. "More recently I have been engaged by International Air Transport Association based in Montreal as the overseer and advisor on matters pertaining to ticket fares to, from and through any point on the African continent for all world airlines."

Susie (Parker) Keown BA began the job of pastor of children and families at Westlake Community Church of God in Indianapolis in September. Two of her daughters - Summer and Allison - are enrolled at Indiana University in Bloomington.

Connie Gove Myers BA retired after teaching elementary school for 27 years. She married the Rev. Jerry Graham on Aug. 3, 2002, and moved to Midland, Mich.

Jerry Chabot BA completed his doctoral studies at Indiana State University in 2000. He is the superintendent of Blackford County Schools in Hartford City, Ind. His wife, Linda (Stofko) Chabot '74, teaches English at Yorktown Middle School. Their children, Luke and Natalie, are students at Anderson University. Their son, Aaron, lives and works in California.

He will develop courses and a minor in reconciliation studies in partnership with other faculty. Nick Gerlich BA '81 and Becky (Brewbaker) Gerlich BA '84 traveled to Changsha, Hunan, China, in February 2002 to adopt Bailee Noelle. She joins sister Becca, who was adopted in China in 1998. After five months of bed rest, Kristi (Stone) Hamrick BA and her husband, Michael, were blessed with their fourth child, Ethan Robert Philip. He was born July 18, 2002, and welcomed home by sisters Lauren, 5, and Corinne, 2, and brother Garrett, 4. "We're all very glad that he is healthy and here at last," Kristi writes. Kristi continues to do political and media consulting in Washington, D.C. Michael is a financial planner. "In our spare time, we try to get some sleep!" Julie-Allyson Ieron BA has written a new book, Staying True in a World of Lies: Practical Models of Integrity for Women in the Workplace. In preparation for writing the book, she interviewed dozens of women at various stages of their career paths. Julie-Allyson is a nationally known speaker. After working as design director for a major glass company for seven years, Matt Carter BA started his own glass consulting business. He and his wife, Amy, were married May 25, 2002. They live in Huntington, W. Va.

Erin (Lefdahl) Davis BA and Todd Davis BA are back at AU with their children, SheaLah, 5, and Caleb, 2. The family lives in Martin Hall, where Erin is the resident director. "We love being back on campus," Erin writes. "It brings back wonderful memories of our college years!"

Michael DeLon BA and his wife, Jill, joined the missionary staff of Family Life, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ in Little Rock, Ark. They will relocate to Little Rock in the spring after raising their full support base.

Heather (Kuck) Kendall BA and Darrell Kendall BA announce the birth of their first child, Zachary, on July 5, 2001. "He is a true blessing to our lives," Heather writes. Darrell is a finance manager at a Toyota dealership, and Heather is a stay-at-home mom. They live in Tampa, Fla.

Jennifer (Jones) Singer BA announces the birth of her daughter, Mackenzie Nicole, on May 15, 2002. Jennifer writes, "She's our first and she's beautiful! I love staying home with her and watching her change every day."

Allie (Greene) Dempster BA and her husband, Greg, are worship leaders at Grace Community Church in Anchorage, Alaska.

Heather (Mateer) Harger BA and her husband, Jordan, have completed a two-week missionary candidate orientation with Greater Europe Mission (GEM). They will relocate to Barcelona, Spain, to work for GEM. They will attend the University of Barcelona to learn Catalán, get involved in local ministry and build relationships with the youth. The Hargers write, "Our vision is to meet people where they are in life and introduce them to Christ through friendships, relevance and fun."

Krissy (Stora) Nordhoff BA and her husband, Eric, announce the birth of their second son, Kaden Michael, on Oct. 25, 2001. Kaden was welcomed home by brother Alex, 3. Krissy is staying at home with her boys and working on her singing/songwriting. She released her first album last year and is working on her second album, which will be in Christian bookstores by summer. She is also booking concerts in churches and promoting awareness of Lyme's disease, which she is currently battling. Eric is director of international sales at Word Entertainment. Angie (Luellen) Semler BA announces the birth of Allie Marie on June 8, 2002. "She was five weeks premature but is healthy and doing great," Angie writes. Allie was welcomed home by brother Tyler, 2. Angie adds, "I am a busy homemaker but blessed to be able to stay home with our children."

Amy Hook Barchini and her husband, Esa, moved to Portland, Ore., with their three children. Daniel Elias, 5, is in kindergarten, and Hannah Claire, 3, has started preschool. Talia Salaam, 1, "has started eating crayons this year," Amy writes. Amy is the director of drama and performing arts at their church in Troutdale, Ore. She volunteers with the drama program at Warner Pacific College and in her children's classrooms. Esa works with Morgan Stanley and teaches a small group at their church.

Jill (Holbert) McKinney BA and Brad McKinney BA '98 built a house in Pendleton, Ind. Brad is an instructor of design at AU and a graduate student in architecture at Ball State University. Jill coordinates summer international internships for college students. In fact, she spent much of last summer in Thailand. "We both love our work with college students," Jill writes.

Babette Junkersfeld BA married David Warvel BA '98 on Oct. 27, 2001, in Fayetteville, W. Va. Dan Cutright BSN '97 participated in the wedding. The couple purchased a house on Lake Loramie in Fort Loramie, Ohio. They share their home with three cats and two dogs. Dave teaches fifth grade and is studying for a master's degree in administration at Bowling Green State University. Babette teaches gifted and is the naturalist at Lake Loramie State Park. David Stark BA received his master of divinity degree from Duke Divinity School and has been accepted into Boston College's doctoral program, where he will continue his Old Testament studies.

Shaun Yoder BA writes, "After teaching for more than a year and spending a year working for Senator Larry Mumper, a member of the Ohio Legislature, I accepted a staff position with Ohio Governor Bob Taft. I serve as the governor's special assistant for education. The job is challenging and extremely intense, but provides an invaluable learning experience in education policy and best practices. It is remarkable to witness firsthand the education reform that is sweeping throughout Ohio and the country."

Following a short-lived venture in the gourmet pie business, Adam Barone BA returned last May to the New Hampshire newspaper The Salem Observer. After five months as an advertising representative, he was promoted to lead the department as advertising supervisor. "It's a nice job," Adam writes. Dan Harman BA '51, MDiv '65 and Betty Ann Church Harman '52 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a month-long tour of the United Kingdom. In September they traveled through England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, fulfilling a lifelong dream for both of them. They live in Anderson, Ind., where Betty is a caterer and Dan serves as interim pastor for a wide range of congregations.
